Can I plant perennials in seed trays all year round?

@Busy-Lizzie Thank you so much, I would have transplanted the full cell had you not mentioned one per pot 🖒. I will definitely sow some sweet william. I'm just trying to figure out the pest issue i.e holes in leaves. Was thinking of putting some pellets down to deter the slugs.
  • When I sow slow-germinating seeds in a tray or cells, how can I prevent algae etc growing on the surface?

You could cover with fine grit rather than compost?

  • That sounds like a good idea, I'll try it.
