    Afternoon everyone,
I popped over to Mums this morning to do some weeding, travellers have moved into the area recently and it’s causing me a lot of worry. They are already out in their vans offering gardening services and I know how trusting she can be of a seemingly friendly chap. I’ve already put a polite notice on the door to say no cold callers, but some take no heed of this I just hope they are moved on soon. Sorry I’m off loading my worries, even tea isn’t helping 😖

Don't apologise Chive, I can understand your worries. I would be worrying too. Hopefully police will move them on, wonder where they came from. Maybe your mum will be extra cautious because of social distancing. Has she a good neighbour you could ask to keep an eye on the situation.

It's been really cold today and we had rain for about an hour this afternoon. Although the garden  now looks completely dry aagain.

Thanks Lily, yes thankfully she does have good neighbours. The police are aware and were in attendance, but it will take time to get them off it’s council owned land.
It has felt much cooler today with quite a breeze, we had some rain earlier but it hasn’t made much impression on the ground yet.
Hope you have a good evening.

I agree with SGL Chive, noone ever needs to apologise on here when they are worried about something. I can understand your concerns. There are a lot of signs on t'internet that you can look at and maybe ask the school if you can get one printed off and laminated so you can put it up in your Mum's window. Thats if you don't have your own printing facility. I did one some years ago and put it up in my window. One cheeky monkey told me he couldn't read when I pointed out the sign to him after he knocked.
Any one who ignores a poster requesting no cold callers may actually be committing a criminal offence. I do not get any these days.

Hi LB Thank you it’s a good idea. I know what you mean, I obtained a very good sign from the police, but these individuals will still ignore it. I’ve told mum not to answer the door if she is not expecting anyone, my brother and I are not far away if needed.

Well lets hope that your Mum doesn't get harrassed Chive. It is a worry.

I can understand your concern Chive. Your mum has good neighbours ,I am sure they will keep a watchful eye . We have a notice saying ( no cold callers ) on the widow .We rarely get disturbed by chancers .

A couple of my neighbours were conned last year, blokes knocking on their doors offering to do gardening, and unfortunately they fell for it, paid money, got very little awful work done, paid a LOT of money actually, I joined the local neighbourhood watch, they said they would put warnings on their leaflets and online.  I had a woman with a heavy Irish accent, and no teeth knock on my door, she said "I do der bushes, der shrubs and der trees", I thought I would ask her if she ws a trained arborculturist, she (naturally) didnt even have any cards or anything.
