Evening all.  Lovely cool evening - @Obelixx Rasta - poor darling but probably more comfortable than the "satellite dish" they vet used to have.  Thin slices of turnip with  a mandoline if you have one.  Olive oil - dash of Herbomare and cracked pepper - works a treat with beetroot (young) and radis noir.  You won't look back!

Hot here - no rain in sight.  My Valerian has surfaced, now awaiting my wild garlic.

@D0rdogne_Damsel - I so hope your clients come back again, again and again.  I sure they will.  You have a beautiful place.  Congratulations.  Your hard work is paying off.

Planted a few cabbages, but they seemed to have given up the ghost.  Too hot perhaps for their position.  Kale in to go next so shall choose a shadier spot.

@dovefromabove Gooseberries!!  A sore point down here.  I have had neither red currants nor gooseberries this year.  Good healthy plants, plenty of growth but no fruit - maybe just a year like this - @punkdoc - I'm glad you are feeling on the mend.  Chin chin!! @Nanny Beach  Gooseberry pie or tart was my Dad's favourite.  Piping hot with a scoopful of vanilla ice-cream.

It was my Dad's favourite as well @tuikowhai34, closely followed by blackberry and apple crumble - which we've just polished off. Rather full now!
You have been busy @Obelixx - hope you're enjoying a well earned glass of something.

Thanks for the gooseberry recommendations, folks.  I know I can buy Hinnomaki Red bushes here so I'll give it a go... and a Hinnomaki Yellow too if I can find one.   :)

Spent a happy afternoon digging out a new bed for herbs I've grown from seed.  (The mediterranean ones will go in a different bed, made in the spare bit of gravel drive.)  Hubby sighs a bit when he sees me digging up more lawn - but he doesn't actually mind.  He ought to be used to it by now cos this is the sixth garden I've tackled since we married nearly 45 years ago...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

@Lizzie27 Blackberries are coming into season here - wild ones i.e. brambles - get hold of a few decent apples and voila!!  can't get into that skirt or trousers in September!!  Oh -- that dreaded top button!!

Went round to one of our neighbours today to give her a couple of cucumbers. Haven't seen her for ages due to lockdown. We had a good chat and she told me her son was still working for Airbus but on reduced hours. Methinks he may not have a job at all after this evenings news saying they are losing 5,000 jobs in France.
Picked some plums and made a crumble this evening, just in time before more rain and thunder.

Morning everyone.  I nice sunny morning here today. At least it isn’t a minus this time. After a trip to town I might get some more Thyme pruning done this afternoon.

    Good morning all
@floralies  Well, we got your thunderstorm at 4am this morning and what a fracas!  It was so violent!!!  Some rain - not enough but just to freshen the air a little!!  I think the whole world will be affected by the forthcoming recession.  Young people with jobs and mortgages will be hardest hit.

Sunny daze.   I hope your day is eventful and bright for you all.
