All of the issues and problems people have posted are indeed terrible, and Dominic Cummings is personally responsible for zero of them. He didn't urinate on anyone's garden, he didn't prevent anyone from visiting sick relatives, and he didn't encourage or condone any of those behaviors.

He's not been cautioned, arrested, fined or anything. He hasn't broken the law. If he had, as madpenguin says, he should be fined like anyone else.

Dominic Cummings' sole offense is to be an adviser/consultant to politicians, whom other politicians and the media dislike. They are simply using this as an opportunity to score points and further their personal agendas. Its obvious, transparent and pathetic.

The need to witch hunt people and lose all perspective seems to be a hallmark of this situation. People accusing other people of breaking lockdown and so forth, without knowing all the facts.

As I said, I can't be bothered with it.

The mood has changed because Dominic Cummings, a private citizen and not an elected official, chose to do something to care for his children, and he has not been charged, fined or convicted for it?

Wow, this is a weird world we live in.

The media have chosen to make a huge deal over this, because they don't like him. They don't choose to make a huge deal about "that guy" on everyone's street who doesn't obey the rules, because "that guy" hasn't committed the crime of annoying the media.

This is what happens when hyperbole and media faux outrage start to drive opinions.

I think I've made my point clearly so won't reply further.

But Cummings DID stop people visiting their loved ones! It was his policy to stay home. He could visit his family, but we cannot visit ours. The issue is not whether his visit did harm but whether it was right in terms of his requirement that the rest of the population couldn't do the same.

Do you really not understand why people are angry?

The man who currently runs the country (Cummings) Set out very clearly what the rules were.  The vast majority of people followed those rules for the greater good, despite hardships and sacrifices and loss, but he didn’t bother following the rules.  Cummings decided the rules only applied to the plebs, not to important people like him.

The Scottish health adviser and the epidemiologist were just as bad, but they had the decency to go quickly.

(The fact that the man currently running The country is unelected is another thing that makes it very annoying!)

No, I wont be booing our prime minister.

I like his handling of the pandemic so far.

What Cummings did was particularly serious as his wife had coronavirus symptoms and presumably the whole family was infected. The rules are much tougher and unambiguous in that case - and apply to ALL household members.

It looks to me like Cummings decided that it would be more enjoyable for the whole family to isolate for 14 days in the countryside, out of the public eye, with access to quiet fields and woods.

I think 'Caterwaul for Cummings' should be next.  'Hope I haven't started anything! o:)

Regardless of where you stand on Cummings, thank you for participating on this thread. Hopefully more forum members will see this and can make their own decision 😊
