..,. Couldn't agree more . The ads for " active lipasones" " pentapeptides" and "hyloranonic acid" " reduces fine lines/ 7 signs of ageing( surely there are more? )  ) make me laugh.
Why are so many woman suckered into buying this stuff?

Because unlike men, when women stop producing oestrogen their skin can become dry, thin and prone to soreness and irritation.

You know me @Hostafan1 , I don’t go for layers of makeup (other than a liberal amount of mascara) and I use soap and water to clean my face ... but over the past eighteen months I’ve found that applying moisturiser with ‘more oomph’ twice a day has stopped my skin developing fragile, sore and irritable patches that occurred when I used a basic moisturiser formulated for younger skin.

I don’t buy expensive stuff ... but using something on my skin helps keep my skin healthy.

It’s a bit misogynistic to suggest that using a relatively inexpensive  skin care cream formulated for my age means I’m being ‘suckered’ into buying it and that it’s ok to laugh at me ‘cos I’m a fool 😯

Some people care about their hair being styled the way they like it. I care about keeping my skin looking healthy.

inexpensive moisturiser isn't what I'm talking about. I'm all for that. ( not even sure moisturiser is even considered "make up " )

It's the overpriced " fake science ingredient" stuff I hate.

Having known each other for several years, I'm disappointed you consider me to be  misogynistic.

So long as misogyny and misandry are in equal proportion, I think that's well-balanced enough for the CC😉 . Well the best we can manage anyway.

I hate to get all serious, but its because women live in a different world to men.  Women live in a world where they are told from all sides from very early on in life that how they look is really important, that younger, thinner, prettier equals better, and that is largely what they will be judged on rather than their achievements or ideas or how they treat other people.  And then they are judged on how they look a lot of the time, so its proved to be true and it reinforces the message.

Different women respond differently, my reaction to it all is 'sod this' and I refuse to wear a high heel and only put makeup on for weddings or big nights out, but not all women are as thick skinned and belligerent as I am!

So hate the fake science BS all you want, I know I do!  But please try not to be too harsh on the women who buy it.  :)

So the L’Oréal Revitalift  ‘anti-wrinkle and extra firming’ stuff with Advanced pro-retinol and fibrelastyl’ for around £14 is acceptable?
Relieved to hear it ... I’d hate anyone to think I was a sucker 😉

Many men have body dysmorphia. They look in the mirror and don't see the beer belly. The grey hair looks distinguished - wherever it's sprouting from.

I'd love to have a bit more hair sprouting from almost anywhere.
