@Marlorena well all your work is paying off because I think I'm hooked.  I've never been much of a fan of roses to be honest.  Bought 3 about 4 years ago, 2 of which I'm ashamed to say I really neglected.  This season I pruned and repotted and fed them and am being rewarded with lots of buds now and so excited to see them open.  Every day now I'm looking at different types and find myself totally obsessed.  I've just ordered Boscobel, Desdemona and Eustacia Vye and hope I can do them justice.

Your Chandos Beauty looks absolutely stunning and so many blooms.  The smell must be amazing.

You've bought 3 lovely roses, all with good scents... do give them time, they are not at their best in the first season, although growing in medium sized pots for the first year can move them along quicker...  I imagine they will be blooming when you receive them..

..Oh I just noticed you asked a question about Tottering by Gently, on the other thread, so I'll answer it here... the flowers are actually quite large for a single bloom, but not all as big as this one last October though...

@Marlorena....I will pot them until next year and then decide whether to put them in the garden.

Thank you for the photo too.  Such a pretty flower and I love the colour of it too.

Brilliant, Marlorena thanks so much for the info on Forever Royal, sounds perfect! It won’t be as dark for me but I’m happy with that. My thinking being if I go for the darkest colours I will end up with good mid tones. I have a few more ‘continental’ roses in mind so I am looking forward to seeing how yours do. Some heat and dry weather due here all next week too, so hopefully all those buds on my first Tantau, Soul will open properly.

Hi Marlorena, I noticed on one of your posts that you use Maxicrop seaweed extract, so I decided to invest in a bottle...but how do you use it. How much do you need to use per plant. At the moment I drench (8 litres for my climbers, less for my shrubs) once a week or so with diluted liquid feed. Is it the same procedure with Maxicrop, or do I just give each plant a small amount of the feed then finish drenching with plain water.

...I use 4 capfuls in 10 litres of water.. and drench the roots... I only use it occasionally and not every week..  I only use it on a rose that I feel needs a push and a shove so to speak..
..a few weeks later and you should notice the difference..

i thought seaweed had to applied to floiage. good to know applying to root also works as that is much easier to do then lifting the watering can and drenching leaves for me.
