But at least nowadays she has friends to support her WE, back in the day disapproval from older women would have been the least of her worries. Many attitudes have changed thank goodness.
My mother was from the NE where 'certain' words were/are never spoken, I can't tell you how many unfinished sentences I had to endure when I was a teenager

Got it in one @KT53 ! That was my Mum exactly, except she didn't mouth the words (at least that would have been a clue) she just pursed her lips and shrugged. I am ashamed to admit that once I became a little more wordly wise I used to bait her
"The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it." Sir Terry Pratchett
Just a tiny, tiny, first world peeve.... I haven't been able to get hold of my favourite breakfast cereal for the last six weeks - has anybody seen either Kellogs or Sainsbury's own Fruit & Fibre cereal anywhere?
I haven't been able to get oat bran. Suspect they're concentrating on keeping core products stocked. How they decide what is "core" is beyond me. I was able to get own-brand frosties for OH and there were plenty of other sugary junk cereals available.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
That's more of less what I thought Jenny, Sainsbury's have delivered every other permutation of cereal they can think of, bar the one I really, really want!
