We do something similar @JennyJ, although nothing happens here until about 5 or 6 days before C'mas. I'm sick to death of all the deccies by about Boxing Day
I see lots of houses round here with the outside/front door light left on all night. Absolutely no need for it. We might be near to a narrow road with nothing but fields/NT garden on the other side of it, but there's no need for those to be left on like that because we do have street lights. They're brighter than those too. We only put the 'door' lights on when someone's due with a delivery or similar, and even then, it's barely needed. It's such a waste of power.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
We live in a small village, the main road is a "B" road and although there is a fairly constant flow of light traffic during the day there is hardly any after six in the evening. The road I live on is a turning off the main road which just goes round in a loop and comes out further down the main road. I accept that there may be a necessity for street lights on the main road but quite why we need them on the side street is a mystery to me and why either need to be on from dusk to dawn I have no idea.
My lane and the one below it are unadopted so we don't get street lights whether we want them or not. It's not much trouble to carry a little torch if you need to walk along at night but my clubbing days are long gone so perhaps it's easier for me!
