My daughter's 'big' birthday surprise was very successful tonight. I had arranged for two local musicians to play outside her house for a short time (jazz/folk) and for all the neighbours to join in (at a suitable distance) and raise a glass in a birthday toast! Turned into a street party - even the police turned up but only said as long as everyone maintained the 2 m distance, it was fine and to carry on. A good time was had by all and hopefully it will give her a good memory to look back on, she's had a tough time since Xmas.
Been weeding all day mostly, so nice outside couldn't bear to be indoors. I am staying at my 'ex's house, although I might as well be camping in the garden, it's where I spend all my time...can't believe in 4 years how much it has gone wild, he tried (apparently) to look after it, but failed miserably. I am enjoying discovering all the plants again, such a joy, despite them being strangulated by creeping buttercups and nettles. The plan is to rescue what I can, he is going to turn all the flowerbeds except two into lawn and I am moving all the plants I've rescued into the two saved (small) flowerbeds and I will oversee them. He doesn't care but I thought the poor flowers at least deserved a chance. If nothing else it's keeping me occupied in a most beautiful setting. Anyway, some pics of my gems:
A late hello from here. Hope you have a good sleep. Don’t look now, but I think we might get some rain. Our friends in Melbourne said they’ve had lots, so it might get over to us eventually. 👏 night all.
Morning all/afties Pat How is the fire situation with you? There's been nothing else reported here, so I assumed they were all under control. I do wish the meedja would follow up stories a bit more. There's been several here, and in England recently. Pleasant here with a bit of cloud cover. Thankfully. We have rain forecast for Mon/Tues - that might keep some of the idiots off the roads and lanes. I've never seen such carelessness with children as I've seen recently. Common sense clearly in short supply.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Another glorious sunny morning ... after today the forecast is for cloud and rain for the next ten days or so ... with warmer nighttime temps. OH is going to assemble my new garden seat today 😎

Don't worry about plant divide and share scheme @Dovefromabove, I am on it already!
It is such a lovely morning I am having breakfast outside, the birds are in such a playful (& noisy) mood it is highly entertaining. There is an empty house at the back here and it might as well be the biggest birdhouse in the world. There are even some Hoopla or Hoopoes?? in it, so beautiful. And there is a nest of baby somethings in the house wall here next to the greenhouse, I can hear then chattering for food. All very peaceful and calming in a 'noisy' way. I am definitely far from the madding crowd as it were, thank goodness.
Good Sunday to you all, hope poorly people are making ever more progress towards better health.

Fairy, we’ve not had fires for some time now although Hubby said there had been some in WA recently, but as you noted, the media gives up once the excitement has passed so we don’t hear anything more. 😡
Hosta, the weather played a trick on me today. The clouds were really dark and it felt heavy out there, so after I got all the washing off the line, it all cleared up. Very irritating. No rain here either.
Morning all. We could do with rain too, glorious sunshine here today. I'll put a wash on. All the beds are weeded, not something I can ever say about my French garden. Last job is to clip the grass against the wall in the front garden and weed and trim the edges of the brick front path.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

For once we're in agreement with the weather @Pat E. We could do with some rain too.
Overcast and very cool to day.
