B&Q was only shut today to prepare. They are open again from tomorrow. However, I agree - general gardening is not a vital service, therefore strict controls should be observed, and that means keeping a safe distance. You'll have to be prepared if you're stopped by the police too.
If you feel you need to finish this job @markos, as it's building work, then that's up to you, but you also need to think about the health of those clients.
Whatever you do - think about getting them to pay you by bank transfer or similar. Accepting cash means close contact, unless they're happy to stick it in an envelope and leave it by a door. How you then deal with that is entirely up to you.

What part of STAY AT HOME unless you work in essential services do you people not understand? Do you know how exponentially one infected person can infect others if they don't stay at home and keep it to themselves? 400+ instead of just a few.
If all those 400 go on to infect another 400 each that's an uncontrollable epidemic which is just what these measures are trying to avoid because there ins't a health system in the world that has ITC beds and ventilators for a sudden explosion of thousands of patients needing ventilators and specialist care.
If you're not in health care or one of the other essential services STAY AT HOME

@Obelixx is correct. Only those working in essential services should be going to work. I would doubt very much that gardening comes into that category.
My ex hubby is in the building trade [surveyor] and they've all shut up shop today. Those who are office based that can work from home will continue to do so. He works on site and in the office, but as he said to me earlier today, many supplies are already drying up, so building sites will have no choice but to close. That's also sensible - those workers can't work at 2 metre distances....

True, but some building work does come in to that category - as do vets and translators and farm workers and plenty of others. It's not just supermarkets and hospitals.

Yes. It includes banks and post offices and other emergency workers and delivery staff and the food and medicines production and distribution industries.

I don’t know whether or not my gardener is coming on Thursday but what would be the issue? She leaves her house, drives six miles to my house, gardens for 4 hours and drives home. She interacts with no one and I will not get any closer to her than about 5 metres.
I know perfectly well it is not an essential service but if she does not work she does not get paid. How does she feed her two children? Her other source of income is a holiday rental property which has had all bookings cancelled.
It doesn't state at all on the Government website that only essential works are allow to go to work ( it did originally and changed with in a hour or 2 , it was all over twitter and facebook ) .

1. Staying at home
You should only leave the house for one of four reasons:
Shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible.
One form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household.
Any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person.
Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home.
It doesn't say essential works , a builder - gardener etc can not work from home. I've been to work today cause I've haven't got a bloody clue along with many other gardeners etc .
I've seen loads of vans - builders / roofers and others out today and people walking about. The government need to be much more clear , Gove says builders can work then khan says don't then sturgeon says gardeners and window cleaners can work as long as hygiene / distance is done , its all over the place with to many mixed signals .
We have no actual contact with our window cleaner at all. He sends a text the day before, and uses one of those long pole brush thingys. He puts a note through the letterbox to say he has been, and we pay him by direct debit. The only problem l can see with that, is he opens and closes the side gate, and touches the letterbox and paper that he puts through. This whole thing is confusing me no end.

Don't want to end up like Spain where they have been a mite lax in complying with social distancing.
