I'm happy to pay for a TV licence and I think everyone else should do the same, no matter how old they are.
I was just stating the facts.
To me, it's fair to pay for services someone uses (no matter the age) and not being forced to paying for something I don't use, don't want to use and don't want to support. With dog licences, there could be some arguments made about the public infrastructure needed for them and possibly cleaning after some of them but that's not the case with TV licences.
Among millennials, it's quite normal not to watch TV and it's becoming more and more common.
I am surprised at you @Hostafan1. I wonder how many of your old school friends from Greenock would understand your million pound friends argument. So many pensioners are on the basic pension in your home town and TV their only enjoyment.
Pensioners over the age of 75 should not have to pay, unless they write to say that they are so rich that they really want to pay. Most pensioners on low income will have to go "cap in hand" again for benefits as they usually do. It's just shocking!
That will probably entail a dozen forms wanting to know exactly what you’ve got, what you can do right down to how many times you need loo roll through the day.

Are you saying that "Rich " folk over 75 shouldn't have to pay , but "poor" folk under 75 should pay? My point is that there are many older people who are much better off than many younger people. As I said " Old does not necessarily mean poor". Those over 75 who are in receipt of benefits will still get it free. All " benefits" should be targetted at those who need them, not just handed out on a given birthday.

After 10 years of Tory government, there are plenty more claiming benefits than there were before, Old and young.
If young people on benefits have to pay, why shouldn't old people. Things have been geared to help pensioners, because they vote, no such help seems to exist for the young poor.
