Good morning to all you lovely rose people! Looks like another sunny day here in Surrey, so many roses in bloom at the moment, don't remember this many roses in bloom in May before!
I opened my patio doors this morning and was greeted by a lovely rose fragrance from one of my favorite roses Wild Edric. It's a rose I wouldn't be without, definitely in my rose top 5. Constant blooms, strong stems, healthy foliage- have never seen blackspot on this rose- and a very strong old rose fragrance to die for.
I'm also completely blown away by Roald Dahl, it has so many blooms! Looks lovely next to the blue geranium (I think it's geranium Orion).
Roald Dahl is definitely another rose in my top 5 together with Wild Edric, Desdemona, Generous Gardener and Lady of Shalott. I also have high hopes for Gabriel Oak and Eustacia Vye which I ordered from DA this week.
I'm looking for a rose which will help cover a neighbours very scruffy looking clematis which has spilled over my side of a 9-10 ft wall. It only flowers for about 3 weeks a year and has a lot of bare stems on show. So I'm looking for a rambler which will be happy being planted in shade, but will have it's upper part in sunshine. It will need to be able to grow up through all the foliage without having the need to be tied in, be a repeat flowerer and grow to about 15 ft. Does such a rose exist. I've added a photo which shows the scene. Many thanks.
Beales rose, City of York rambler. Now after 4 years the perfume is coming through. Quite fruity and fresh. Only a sprinkling of roses later on. But magnificent for its first flowering covering an area 3. 1/2 m x 3 m. Valerie
@Omori I’ve just had a look at Olivia Rose Austin and it's very similar so I think you could be right 😀 @Nollie, thank you, the R in B is about seven years old but it’s never flowered as well as it has this year.
Can hardly bare to look at the garden at the moment! Everything's getting knocked about about the wind awfully. No chance of me getting any pics today with this wind. Shame as Kew Gardens is blooming now.
Braved it - looks nice a peaceful in a photo but Royal Jubilee is folding in half at the moment with the strength of the wind, nearly touching the ground!
