  • Great fun reading through all your plant purchases! I've recently bought more alpine clematis and ferns and am waiting for some hellebores to come back in stock. Not really rose companions though, just things I fancy.

I was going to get some potted roses into the ground today and move Night Owl and Westerland but the snow slush has now turned to ice, maybe tomorrow.

I've decided to buy some roses for permanent pots and replant a rather tiresome border with some tricky lighting conditions so I suppose musing and measuring is the job of the day.

I do like seeing all the mixed planting. I think “rose gardens” that are just planted with roses and nothing else are so dull. It’s nice to have contrasts.

Nice to see the flurry of posts here. I can't bring myself to buy at the moment, it is too cold. My perennials in pots that I am growing on from last year are tucked under fleeces. Pulling leaves off roses and pruning whenever the sun appears is all I can face. Just did Blush Noisette which hadn't dropped any leaves and still has 2 pink buds.
@Nollie, how are you holding up in the extraordinary Spanish weather?

@Tack - popping out just to put those plants in my mini greenhouse was the most "gardening" I've done in weeks 😂

    ..lovely isn't it @Victoria Sponge
... draping the fence there... of those you mention, I've grown only Tage Lundell which I had up a large Pittosporum, which looked nice every year... in another garden though..

...I'm afraid to get any more for here, but I might...  best of luck with all those...

..anybody know how long Secret Garden take to despatch plants?  I can't remember.. @Mr. Vine Eye  ..?.. from ordering to receiving I mean...  thanks..

Hi @Tack (and @Obelixx, answering your post on the other thread!) thanks both, for asking, it’s bitterly cold here, everything is frozen. We had some snow Friday night/Sunday morning, followed by sleet then rain all day so most of the snow has gone now apart from a few patches. Lowest temps so far -7.8c but due to go to -9 tomorrow, which will a first here 🥶. Nowhere near as bad as Madrid tho.

Every morning I am anxiously checking young plants and roses under their fleeces in the poly, so definitely won’t be putting my perennial order in just yet!
