Lovely companion plant lists everyone, I haven’t made my main perennial order yet, have lots of gaps to fill in every bed, so doubtless will go a bit mad. I usually order 9cm pots in early Feb, pot/grow on and plant out in April/May. Helenium Short ‘n Sassy is on my list, more penstemons, achillea, hardy geraniums, agastache beelicious purple and salvia mainacht. I’m sure a few others will slip in too...

  • It's not a term generally used like Black spot for instance but refers to the dying of the rose stems as a result of bacteria and disease. It shows as discoloration on the stems.
  • That’s the sort of style I’m aiming for, @Marlorena. I’ve had Perfecta scabious in my last garden, but the stems of mine grew very tall and floppy. Maybe the soil was too rich for them... I’ve ordered a dwarf form of knautia that I hope will do well.

I’ve got scabious ‘butterfly blue’ and ‘blue note’. Butterfly blue flowered over quite a long period - I bought it from Morrison’s.

I’ve got some aquilegia seeds which hopefully will grow into yellow ones similar to the ones in your photo Marlorena. I picked up a seed head back in autumn that had come from some like that. Will see what they turn into.

Ive also got some Giant Scabious seeds but I won’t be planting those in the garden!

I had good luck with scabious and aquilegia seeds. Very good germination and lovely flowers in previous garden.

Not planning to do any underplanting in this garden until I get control over creeping buttercup and Cinquefoil  :(

@Marlorena, very beautiful! I am lost for words. Such vibrant colours, different shapes, texture and healthy plants.

@edhelka, oh my, it is so calm and lovely. I could spend hours sitting there looking at it.

An amazing selection of companions. I am going for a mass planting of para-hebes in the spring.
