My roses are progressing well in this warm sunny weather.. I am now starting to get a whiff of my roses’ fragrance everyone I step onto my balcony.
First up is my white dwarf lupin.. It’s the only non fragrant plant I grow on my balcony..
Boscobel - the sweetest scent I’ve ever encountered.. makes me take a moment just to marvel at what nature is capable of producing.
Munstead Wood.. once more, just because it’s so incredibly gorgeous
Up next.. Roald Dhal, already exuding a lovely scent despite only being a half bloom
And Desdemona.. equally fragrant. I really must expand my vocabularies fo better describe the differences in character of all these rose fragrances so as to do them some justice.
Anyone know this rose? Iv miss placed the label 🏷. It’s one of my favourites. It has a slight smell and is a tea rose I bought from Peter beals. Love it
Everyone’s roses are wonderful, but I do like/share your taste in roses I must say, @edhelka - I have also become a sucker for purple/lilac tones and burgundy (fortunately, as most purples lean toward that!). Eyes for you is on my list for Autumn. Be interesting to hear how your ‘The Prince‘ gets on and compare notes.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
My Sir John Mills is so close to unfurling and the colour is how I remember. I'm already looking forward to next year when it will have climbed further up my post
I also have this little pink patio rose which came with the house. It's still in the wrong place after me moving it a couple of times but not sure it would take another move!
@Nollie Yes, I love purples. And with buying from TCL, we share some of our new roses. Here is my Astronomia.
I know, the time to move that Bowles Mauve was a month ago. I had it in the ground for the winter with the intention to pot it in spring.
I am sure everyone is bored with my roses but with the warm weather, everything's starting to bloom.
Blackberry Nip, the whole plant.
Olivia Rose Austin opening. I am happy with the fragrance, it's certainly there, I would say medium strength. But I can't detect any fruity notes in it, it's just what I perceived as plain rose.
Love this thread, such beautiful photos. I’ve been a long time lurker but finally plucked up the courage to post a few of my own rose photos.
Rhapsody in Blue, most flowers I’ve ever had on it
This rose was labelled Gertrude Jekyll but I’m not sure as it seems a bit pale. It has a beautiful wafty fragrance
Gabriel Oak, a bare root planted at the end of March, think I can see some tiny buds. Very excited to see the flowers. The plant is only about eighteen inches high but I’m thrilled with it as it looked like a bunch of sticks for about a month. Please excuse the weed seedlings just noticed them, I’ll have to get the hoe out😁.
Thank you @katsa. I got the pot from B & Q about five years ago. It was quite cheap as it has a chip in the rim but I hid it at the back. It’s a big pot but couldn’t tell you the size off hand. I’ll go and measure it in the morning.
