That's a nice rose @sarinka. I wish I had more space for some statement old roses. Yes I feel like I should have dug up every brick and pronged every shallow pocket of clay by now but not so!

I hadn't heard of Souvenir de Marcel Proust until you mentioned it the other day @Nollie, it looks like a smashing yellow. I would normally choose a floribunda over a HT but I decided I just need to learn to plant around them a bit better as there are some that I really like the look of. Perhaps you have room for both? ;)

Oh dear those are beautiful yellows! But no more space left in garden and my potted cutting garden space is almost full too.

Delbard say the fragrance on SMP is one of it’s best, along with Chartreuse de Parme, @Victoria Sponge, so I think I will end up going for that, no room for both sadly! They do have some nice yellows:

  • Good choice @Nollie, it looks bountiful. I quite like the look of the floribunda France. Fortunately my plant budget is entirely allocated and I have no spare pots. A potted yellow would go well in my front garden though...maybe one for next year :)

Here is my Peter Beales order, arrived today. Along the top are 'Mutabilis', 'Lovely Parfuma' and 'Norwich Castle'. The bottom two are both the same, an HT called 'Isn't She Lovely'...well, let's hope so! I'm quite pleased with them although 'Lovely Parfuma' possibly isn't the best - two canes and one of those is quite brown but we'll see how they progress!

...they look good Iain, for the most part... what made you choose 'Mutabilis'?...

Does anyone have a link to TCL, please?

I'm a bit concerned that I have over-planted in my little garden. The house might disappear completely under rose canes and me never seen again. Not a bad way to go, I guess. :D

@iaincd It looks like Kordes roses don't like their growing conditions. Or the demand is so big that they send these two-cane wonders.
