Oh well, so long as you are happy @edhelka, Probably my bad experience of Agel-Rosen’s potted Chateau de Cheverny talking there, hope they do well for you. Personally, I won’t be buying from them or Beales again.
They look really good @Marlorena, I nearly placed an order with them this year as they do ship outside the UK (at least at the moment!) so nice to see such sturdy bare roots.
@Katsa I seem to recall one of my Lady Emmas from TCL being a bit small, by their standards anyway, but it soon caught up with the others in my trio. Certainly for me it’s a vigorous and very floriferous rose.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Marlorena Thanks for sharing this. I was contemplating if I should root prune or re-pot my roses next spring (will be heading into third season) but I guess I shall wait a bit longer. I really am dreading the day when I have to dig them out of their pots as they’re all quite large...! It’s certainly not going to be a one man/woman job! Did you manage to get your Vanessa Bell out of its pot by yourself?
@edhelka sounds like the size of the plant doesn’t have much bearing on what’s going underground then..even if it’s tempting to indulge in logical extrapolation...
@celcius_kkw ..yes Adrian, all by myself... I used a garden fork to loosen it, then tipped on its side, tugged and wriggled about with it, then turned almost upside down, then cut away the bottom of the pot.. I think it's resin or somesuch... I could have saved the pot but I lose patience.. the spare compost I'm using in other pots for summer annuals and suchlike next year..
@Marlorena Well done, it can be a nightmare removing them from pots!
I removed Amber Queen last year when she’d been in the pot only a year and I had to turn the whole thing upside down and yank, I was surprised that I didn’t end up breaking the pot or the rose! Came out with quite a bang in the end.
The ones I took out this year were much easier, but mind you I wasn’t trying particularly hard to keep the rootball intact - and the dead one just pulled straight out.
@Marlorena I don’t think my pots are made of anything that can possibly be cut..unless with a ?chainsaw.. I think I’ll have to enrol myself in a gym in preparation for the inevitable pot change.. otherwise my back might end up going out in a bang (instead of my roses) @Mr. Vine Eye
Thanks for sharing your opinion on the yellows @newbie77. I don't know why but I never think of Golden Celebration even though it looks like a great rose and I know it is popular. I think I sometimes see certain yellows as orange. I like orange too but probably overlook them as being a yellow (if that makes sense)...
I also get tempted by something I already have...I forget I have Agnes with a similar bloom and found myself looking at a rose called Mary, I think on Trevor Whites website before it occurred to me I don't have enough space for all the slightly different versions of yellow (sadly)😁
If anyone is interested, Harkness Roses is doing a 25% off voucher for Black Friday, expires midnight on Monday. Code is BLACKFRIDAY25. https://www.roses.co.uk
I'm going to try their Wonderful World climber, and get a couple more Fetzer Syrahs to make a trio. Might try Zephirine Drouhin as well, can't resist a Bourbon...

Anyone know of any other rosey deals going on?
..I like the look of 'Alfie Boe' a new yellow introduction... and Wonderful World is certainly quite striking in that colour range...
