...DA introduce in spring, hoping for something purple or dark coloured (replacing Munstead Wood) or maybe a pure white. I still have some pot space left.
I might have missed this but why are you thinking of replacing Munstead Wood with something else? I’m asking because although my MW blooms do look gorgeous and smells amazing the actual plant has been very poorly with weak growth this season.. I planted it last season so technically it’s a second year rose now.. it’s also meant to be a small sized shrub and therefore should be ideal for pots.. I have had much bigger shrubs thriving in the exact same condition.. I’ve seen other people’s MW doing amazingly but given space on my balcony comes at a premium I wonder if I should give my MW another shot before moving it to my shady balcony or worse still, to be gotten rid of...

@celcius_kkw I meant in their line (they discontinued MW). I've never had MW but if there happens to be an improved version, I will probably buy it.

@newbie77 Thank you, I like seeing your posies very much. Shame that your CharlesD has BS but that is useful info, I will keep it in full sun, it had a scorching spot this year and is still very clean.

@edhelka I couldn't bring myself to 'like' your pictures but you posting them is valuable. I am really hoping for an MW replacement too. I cannot find The Prince for love nor money anyway (your comment that it is available from some suppliers amused me @Nollie, technically true but...) and I cancelled Pure Poetry/Goethe, so I am keeping that 'slot' available for a dark DA. I was never tempted by MW because of your and others' travails with it @celcius-kkw
  • Bet it’s been good for sales though - this discontinuing news. People have been desperately buying Munstead Woods up before they stop selling it. Seen it on all the groups on Facebook etc.

Roses with blooms similar to Munstead wood i have are madam Issac p, graffin Diana and William Shakespeare 2000, but the little awkward MW was darker and gave more blooms.

Munstead Wood is still in stock as a bareroot from Style Roses, not sure where else. Seems to be sold out most places by now but I haven’t extensively searched. I know it’s sold out on TCL and DA. I think it’s worthwhile as a trio and I’m going to plant it as such, but I would definitely be interested if DA release a new rose in a similar colour.

Gosh, I'm miles off snowdrops showing green tips, let alone flowering. I've still got cosmos, begonias and lobelia going strong.

I received my TCL order last saturday. I'm not so sure about the quality of the bare roots. Some looked like they had dead stems. Some (Desdemona and Lady Emma Hamilton) were teeny! I'm a bit concerned that they're not going to survive the winter. What are your views?

    Lady Emma Hamilton:
This is the worst offender. The other LEH is still pretty small and spindly, but this rose has a dead stem. Should I trim it off?

    Desdemona:

Both are tiny! And one came with a rose hip still attached. I assume that this means it's fairly healthy? Should I remove it so that the plant focuses on growing roots?

    Princess Anne of Kent:

The shed was finally built so I expanded my flower beds and did the great rose re-plant.

In this flower bed, from left to right, there is English Miss, LEH, LEH, Vanessa Bell, Aphrodite. English Miss & Aphrodite are from Cottage Memories and were purchased as container roses. LEH and VB were bought from TCL and are bare root.

The flower bed to the left of the Pergola has a bare root Boscobel (TCL) and Pretty parfuma from Cottage Memories. I've also ordered a Gentle Gardener from DA to grow up the pergola. The smaller bed on the right of the pergola has a Mme Alfred Carriere and Pure Poetry from Cottage memories. I might dig it up and repot in a container.

So, I'm both really pleased that I've managed to achieve what I have, but also quite disappointed by the TCL order. Granted, they don't seem to have invoiced me for some of the roses, but not sure if this is an oversight or not.

@Katsa, can't help with your query, but i wanted to say your house and garden are situated at a such a beautiful place. Very nice background and with all the roses you are planting it would be spectacular!
