😬 I should get a move on in case things sell out...
I've been thinking exactly that for some time... But I am still undecided about one part of the garden. On the other hand, I checked yesterday and all roses I want from them are available elsewhere. In fact, I don't want that many from them this year. I want some from Trevor White and some from Peter Beales.
Thanks @Marlorena. I've had this rose for a couple of years now and it's always had blackspot. I'm not actually sure it is Julia child as it's a patio climbing rose? It may be Laura Ford?
Anyway I managed to take some photos today, in between trying to tie down my sweet peas teepee. The wind is so strong and my peas have taken off!!
My Claire Austin has started to bloom
...and also get chomped by sawflies. I saw two of them and squished them between my fingers. Very satisfying!
I love the fluff that's attached itself to this Lovely Parfuma
Desdemona is blooming like crazy!
Penny found a warm spot in our greenhouse.
My sweet peas going crazy!
A hoverfly on on a Roald Dahl
Aphrodite with all sorts in the bakground
Some ranunculus starting to bud.
...finally, my attempt to pin down the teepee. Must remember to tell my OH that I've rigged up a trip-wire!
Proper Job has looked much happier in the pot. It's put on a lot of new growth above the weird mini leaves. I'll leave it in the pot for a year and then consider where to plant ...
More Ranunculus and lavender
Nasturtiums bullying our pomegranate tree. In the foreground you can see that my very unhappy Roald Dahl has buds! and has really perked up since I removed the 2nd sweet pea teepee
A random Dahlia that I received free with an order. Not keen on Dahlias, especially multicoloured ones like this. I'm tempted to repot into a terracotta pot in the winter.
So, that's my lot! As you can see, my garden is very chaotic and jumbled. I think I'll embrace that as my 'look' and figure out how to manage my need for order ...
I'm sure I've heard Chandos Beauty being mentioned a number of times on this forum, but I can't remember what the overall opinion is. There are a few on offer for £8 at my local garden centre, but am unsure whether to bother or not. I love the colour, and it would fit in nicely with my contrasting colour scheme...but it's a hybrid tea, and my recent foray into that particular field hasn't been good.
@peteS this is only my first season with Chandos Beauty but some of the things I've noticed so far is that it has taken quite a while for the second flush to come. The blooms are very big and incredibly fragrant and as such has required staking but not sure if that's something that will change next season. The foliage has been very healthy despite all our rain. I don't regret getting it at all because the blooms are beautiful and as as I said the fragrance is amazing.
The only other hybrid tea I have is A Whiter Shade of Pale. Again very healthy foliage and amazingly fragrant. The only difference is that it has had blooms, buds all season and is very upright so no staking needed.
@poppyfield64...that's very useful to know...if it can stay healthy with all the rain and horribleness we've had in the west this Summer, that is a big tick in my books. Thank you. I might give Whiter Shade of Pale a once over as well.
@Katsa, Glad to hear PJ is doing better. Early on, Soul had abundant but oddly stunted growth on the top for a while, but it grew out of it and this cane has produced most of the blooms so far - maybe a Tantau thing:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@peteS definitely take a look at A White Shade of Pale too. This is one that I'm going to try to get a cutting from this Autumn. It just seems to be continually blooming and in bud and totally clean foliage.

Chandos Beauty is almost there with a second flush. Super fragrance on this one and big buds.
