@purplerallim Which variety is it? Some roses have poor disease resistance, and it's been quite a good year for diseases of all types. I have some powdery mildew on Albertine, which I have never had before. Other thing is, are they getting plenty of water at the base?

@katsa I recently removed all of the grass in our side garden, as it just always looked a mess from our Labrador doing zoomies across it. I replaced it with larger beds and slate paths with a slate area for seating, which currently does not have any seating as the garden furniture I liked is backlogged until October, which I thought a bit pointless...What type of garden do you like? If cottage, Geoff Hamilton's Cottage Gardens book is a classic, you can only buy it second hand I believe but plenty of copies around. I'm actually thinking of redoing a large portion of this area this autumn because I don't like the planting I've done  :|

    ...a kind offer @B3
..but not for me right now... thank you though.. perhaps another member.?

...my husband used to be a Fuchsia collector.. I like them but don't grow them.. he often doesn't 'get' the scent in roses that I love especially, which makes me quite perplexed..

...in other news, I wonder if you have heard that today Keith Weed is now president of the Royal Horticultural Society... his father married a Miss Hedges... and he said..
“If a Weed gets together with a Hedges, I think they’re going to give birth to the president of the RHS.”

..he takes over from Sir Nicholas Bacon... [ lol ! ]...

    Nominative determinism.
At almost every school I went to, there was a Nurse Ward. Do they still have school nurses?
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Not sure what the rose is @Omori ,as it was a quick buy from B&Q just before lockdown in March.  It just says white climber. I grew it on in the greenhouse during the wet/cold weather up till May then hardened it till the end of the month and planted in a new bed. At that time, and up till now it was healthy and growing well. Now it looks like this. They have been watered and fed once a week with tomato feed. Thanks for any help.

@purplerallim Unless you’re getting regular extended downpours, newly planted roses need a lot of water. For example, DA recommends every other day. Depends on your conditions, but you could try twice a week and see if things improve.

Will do @Omori  so its OK to leave them in, they are about six feet away from other roses so I won't be putting them in danger.

...if I may... you have cultivation issues going on there which should be addressed, and can be quite easily for powdery mildew..
..first, you do need to clear away all that growth from the base of your rose.. it seems you have a whole mass of weeds or other plants close by - I can't tell what they are... there should be a clearance around the base of your rose, otherwise mildew leaves will be the result due to lack of air circulation... after clearing that up, you should pour down a bucket of water, as dryness at the roots contributes to mildew..
..it's not difficult to resolve actually for most roses...and sprays are not always needed although some are especially susceptible to it..

Thanks @Marlorena will remove the oriental poppies that have self seeded to give more room and water well. Good to hear its treatable without chemicals. 😁

    Lovely roses all!

@Tack, yes JC will be fine in a pot, I’m sure, just a note not to crowd her with other plants really. I am planning to keep all my newbies in pots at first to see if I like them. Going to have to wait for Pure Poetry (easier to say the nicer English name). I have written to AR saying I was unhappy to receive it cut down like that, so we’ll see what they say. I guess it just seems worse as it’s my first HT and I was looking forward to seeing if I like the form as well as the blooms!

@Poppyfield64yes will keep you updated on Rose de Rescht. Sweet little bloom, only 3cm across.
