    Amazing how much that has all grown in just a few months @edhelka.  It looks so pretty.

    @edhelka, that's looking very good but isn't your garden/drive steep!! I thought ours was bad enough but yours makes ours look like just a gentle slope!
    We've booked to stay in Snowdonia in September if the Welsh hotels re-open by them so I'm hoping for some dryish weather - or is that wildly optimistic?

    @poppyfield64 If I understand right I think the other downside for GJ is that the second flush is slow to arrive and stingy. But the scent may make it worthwhile.

    @Marlorena Sorry to hear ill health affects your household, that is hard I know. Best wishes to you both for improvement.

    @edhelka Very nice indeed, which roses are there? Clever of you to have taken before pics, they are always appreciated. At least that bed is well drained!

    Ooh which part of Sheffield @Loxley? We lived in Crookes previously, so very close. Haven't heard of grey to green though ...

    The Peace Gardens are looking fabulous as well.

    @Lizzie27 Yes, the drive is very steep, we don't use it to park the car there. The rest of the front garden is OK, we have a retention wall taking away half of the slope. This is from the previous year.
    September is a bit of a lottery but can be good. Sometimes, it can be even nicer than August. The weather usually changes to much windier and rainier in mid-October.
    @Tack 'Belle de Crécy', 'Jacqueline Humery', 'Eyes for You', 'Purple Skyliner' to grow on the wall and 'Olivia Rose Austin'.
    I have to say I am really happy with 'Purple Skyliner' so far, it grows well, climbs, flowers well and stay healthy.

    Thank you @rock_hen and @Tack for the info on GJ.  I think it will be a pass if it's a bit stingy with blooms.  I can even tolerate blooms that don't last long as long as there are plenty of them.

    Does anyone have any experience of Rosa Charles Austin.  I saw one in the garden center today and was very tempted.

    ...thanks for the kind comments earlier..

    @poppyfield64
    ..you don't see Charles Austin much these days, as I don't think DA sell it any more, but it's a rose they have used for breeding, as do others... must be very fertile with seed... it's in the lineage of so many DA's..  there's a Yellow version too..
    Some of these older Austin's are actually very good roses, and not necessarily inferior to the latest offerings..  I'm aiming to get Sir Walter Raleigh this winter..

    @edhelka
    ...I noticed Warren Millington visited HMF today, so whilst you can't send him a PM as it doesn't work at the moment, you could try post a comment on his page, he might see that, and maybe he could enlighten you as to the position of the rose nursery you are interested in, as they sell his roses... it must be a difficult time for everybody right now, to attend to administrative issues as well...   just a suggestion..

    @edhelka Nice selection there. I'll be very interested to see those develop, especially Jacqueline Humery. I have Rhapsody in Blue which looks like Purple Skyliner, I enjoy it very much. Some sites say they both reach 8ft others that RiB only gets to 3ft. The size guides for roses makes choosing for a novice really hard.

    Our house is built into a steep slope with a crazy drive and retaining walls etc. It poses challenges shlepping stuff around and we create extra issues for works and tradespeople. But there are advantages in the unobstructed outlook.

    My GJ has never had so many flowers and still lots more buds to open.

    But the rose next to it which is very pretty just droops. It isn't dry but it seems as though the stems are just not strong enough. It grows about 90cm tall. Can I do anything to make the stems stronger and can anyone recognize it. Do you think I need to give it some kind of feed? My soil is slightly acid. I can' see any disease on it.
