@Nollie ...I never knew Spain had such weather Nollie, one tends to only hear about the Costa del Sol's etc...but I suppose you must be ''on the plain''.. where ''the rain falls mainly''...
..editing is fun... I enjoy editing lists..
@Mary370 ..no I don't think any have been stolen, although I confess to giving the idea some thought [as if]… but you know, I think they look better in our gardens.. ..glad you enjoyed the video Mary... I wouldn't want her water bill though.
@Lizzie27 ...those roses are all dug up in autumn to sell as bare roots, then the fields are left free of roses for 9 years.. they move on into nearby fields for the following years..
That field is wonderful, @Marlorena. I was going to ask you how on earth do they deal with RRD, I assumed some crop rotation was involved, but nine years! I read that it hangs around that long on the RHS site but couldn’t quite believe it.
The ever-evolving The Prince - this rich violet/purple is the colour I have been searching for, but seems I already have it! Just moved to a more sheltered location with a spare Mme. Hardy now in a pot in front:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Thought you might like that one @WillDB! Early blooms started off a deep, smoky burgundy colour that complements my Allium Atropurpureum. It’s new this year, has a tall, narrow habit, so far (width stated as 60cm but reports say can get to twice that). Needs some support, a sheltered location out of wind and prefers morning sun/protected from stronger afternoon sun. It’s a discontinued DA but still available from some other suppliers.

Lovestruck again, the blooms are a lovely deep red and the foliage glossy and healthy. Only about 45cm tall at the moment but supposedly will grow to120cm.
These beauties arrived today! Gabriel Oak and Eustacia Vye. I think these will be my last DA roses for a while, I have so many now and want to expand my rose collection beyond DA. Thankfully these two don't seem to have the droopy stem problem!
Eustacia looks and smells lovely, Gabriel Oak has lots of buds- only one in bloom, I can't detect much scent yet, but I hope the scent increases once the rose gets going.
..stunning roses @Omori ... and actually your 'Wild Edric' I wonder if it might be another for @WillDB to consider, as it's smaller than Roseraie de l'Hay... but similar in other ways I think.. I've heard good things about it generally.. and there's always Munstead.. sometimes the obvious ones staring in the face, get overlooked..
@cats_and_dogs ..you have bought two wonderful roses, and yes the heads do stand up, or face outwards, which makes a change for Austins...
Can’t say anything bad about Wild Edric. It was one of the first to flower here, richly scented and a sumptuous colour. It was free too as DA sent me literally a stick and I complained as I paid a lot for a stick! They had quite the cheek about it... It developed two branches last year on top of the main stick, and looked ridiculous. This year it’s getting lots of new growth so I’m glad I persevered with it. I told DA they need to change their photo and description in the listing if they want to insist it’s normal to send people sticks...which of course they haven’t done so I hope they’re sending people proper specimens now 🙄
Anyways here it is today, planted Nov. 2018. Pardon the hideous expanse of mulch...work in progress.

Thanks for your advice on my 'climbing Rosarie de l'Haye' Marlorena… I like those selections.
