I thought of that the other day too @pansyface. Most supermarkets have those ones like 'old people' shopping trolleys, which are easier for elderly people to manage. I can just picture the rioting at customer services now though...
I read earlier that people have been seen removing shopping from old folk's trolleys as they went round the shop. If it's true, how low can people sink eh?

Supermarkets will get more in they are working hard in difficult times I'm sure people stocking up will end soon.
I have been saying this for the past few days. Eventually they are going to run out of space to put all this panic bought stuff, which a good amount i suspect will never get eaten.
The stories I have heard about people fighting in the supermarket or being abusive to the staff is disgraceful. I heard a man was throwing food at staff in our local Sainsbury's as he could not get the amount of a certain bottled water he wanted.
I think that the Supermarkets having dedicated times for elderly/vulnerable people is a fantastic idea. They can go in and hopefully get what they need without being pushed and shoved around.
An update on my daughter's incident on Tuesday. The kind chap who came to her aid was a lawyer, and he spoke to the manager about it. A decent lawyer. Who knew? If she tries anything again [and that kind of abhorrent person will ] all the staff know to look out for her and she'll be banned. She also tried to pull something else. I don't want to say what, but perhaps people can guess. Sign of the times.
It seems to be happening all over the country, and apparently, NHS staff are also receiving abuse. WTF. I seriously hope that isn't true

Too true. I am being "Reregistered" as a Pharmacist to help out in the crisis. I am still in touch with some still working. They say the last week has been an absolute nightmare. People they have never heard of before are demanding deliveries, despite the fact that the NHS does not pay for these, and they come off the bottom line. Priority is being given to over 80's and those in very poor health. Others come into the pharmacy with symptoms, despite a notice on the door saying they have no Paracetamol, hand sanitizers, face masks, or soap or toilet rolls left. The ones that get past that are abusive to the staff that they have to wait longer than usual for prescriptions. The volume of prescriptions has gone through the roof. Staff are in tears every day, and one said that instead of yesterday being cream cake Friday ( I always used to buy cream cakes for everyone on Fridays), It was hit the vodka bottle last night.
Please be nice to people still working under very trying circumstances, and doing their best. Please do not order next months prescription the day after you got this months. Order it when you have a weeks supply left. The normal prescription drug supply is working as normal.
Loads of people and organisations are rising to the challenge to help old and vulnerable people with shopping, running errands etc, there are of course those selfish and downright criminally minded people who seek to make everyone's lives more difficult in these uncertain times, however from what I have seen the vast majority of people are banding together willing to help than the small number who are only out for themselves.
A couple of people said hello to me in the street - like they only do if there's snow on the ground or the bus is an hour late. What on earth is happening to London?
It's just vile @fidgetbones. What do those people see when they look in the mirror?
My daughter said the increase in home shopping has resulted in priority to existing customers. Understandably, older people will take advantage of that, but the abuse that manager had the other day from the entitled b**ch on the phone seems to be the result. Their true colours being shown in full force. I despair of the human race sometimes.
I hope you'll be ok, and please tell everyone you meet, that the majority of decent people out there are eternally grateful for what you all do.

There are some decent principled lawyers ... I know at least 3 ... one I used to work for ... the others work in the field of human rights, equal opps/employment etc. All three are really good guys. I also knew a judge who always struck me as a really humane person.

It never fails to appal me how awful some people can be to people who are there to help - especially in times like this. I watched that heartbreaking clip of the critical care nurse, Dawn Bilbrough, and her appeal for people to just stop panic buying and I was ashamed that in our supposedly civilised society, some people are reduced to acting so badly. I have endless respect for all people at the front end of dealing with caring, organising and putting up with all sorts of crap from people who should know better. @Fairygirl, it is heartening to hear of the support your daughter received. There are so many unsung heroes, delivering stuff to people, looking out for their neighbours and generally rising to the occasion.
