BenCotto, if you ask at the Pharmacy, they can check whether everything is suitable for your wife  and not clash with any medication she takes.
I think everyone should have things in just in case. It really annoys me when people get a cold and then sit in the doctors to get a prescription for Paracetamol, or Calpol for kids, when they should keep these basics in.

That’s a good medical kit for colds and flu-like illness @fidgetbones. I agree that Lemsip is a waste of money - I always go for a hot drink with paracetamol. Same goes for branded versions of Ibuprofen - no need to spend £4 when the generic drug is half the price (or less). I am also a fan of Olbas oil and similar - good as a steam inhaler or just on tissues.

A few drops of peppermint oil and a little water is good for clearing out the tubes.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I certainly do and have read the info you've supplied, via the links.  Very thorough, detailed and covering, naturally, much that we've been advised to do over recent days, as well as matters that I, at least, had not thought of: not only how to take care of ourselves but to think of those too who are in harm's way:

Alistair MilesAdding one more... 15. If you know someone who works in healthcare, reach out and say hi, and thank you.

I also watched the BBC offering on the subject.  I found it very good but, perhaps, not quite so detailed.

The virologist's facts and warnings made me panic...just a tad, which is not an entirely bad thing, since it's such a serious matter.

    I've already sent this link

    to several special people.

    Thank you, Helen.

    So have I.

A very useful and detailed list of things to consider.  Among the several that had not previously crossed my mind was this:

    7. Don't panic buy ...But do buy a few extra . Have 2 weeks worth of provisions, including some chocolate or other treats. Don't forget about pets.

    Thank you, Helen.

Yes, a bowl of hot water, a few drops of a favourite essential oil and a large towel over the head works for me too.

Live at Downing Street now - COVID statements and Q&A. Sounds pretty worrying...

No @Tin Pot, fortunately I haven't been advised to self-isolate (although I do have a cold). Dove had already sent me the same link but thanks for the thought.

If we all do have to self-isolate, I still intend to go out in my garden sometimes - as it's a large one, there's no way the virus could hop over the hedge and infect anybody else, viruses don't spread like that.
With all the noise on the news it’s natural, but there is no need to worry about that at this stage.

It’s interesting to know what the playbook is for these events, and see how countries are working against pandemics.  Pandemic sounds scary, but this is not the plague.

NHS England/Scotland/Etc. Have said the risk is elevated to Moderate but there is no increased risk to individuals.

I see what you mean Pansyface, but it’s not bad in this country,  is it 5% of the land built on?  look to the heavier populated countries,  China want World domination now so have lifted their one child rule.  India following close behind.

Hi Lyn, China have a depopulation problem to be concerned about now.  If their birth rate doesn’t rise, and it has continued to fall since they revoked the one child policy, they will have a big problem with too many old people and too few young.
So you're saying that a virus that seems almost custom made to kill mostly elderly people is in fact in China's interest right now? :o
Ha ha, for the overpopulation conspiracy theorists, yes.  Other suggestions might include Soylent Green, euthanise on the 30th birthday, etc!

@Tin pot, in the nicest possible way, do you have any idea what you are talking about?
Guessing and making things up is a sure fire way to cause problems. Sadly, the  twatosphere is buzzing with frightening misinformation, and I would hope for better on here.
Nobody has said there is no increased risk to individuals, if you get it, you are at increased risk of death, even if you are young and fit.
How can you lie there and think of England
