@Lizzie27 - AuntyRach works in a hospital so hygiene is key. Far less important in a domestic setting assuming the residents are retired or WFH and not bringing home or working with nasty bugs we don't want to share.

I hope all those that make a fuss about masks, have seen the news from China. A whole city shut down just for 3 asymptomatic cases, draconian measures indeed. No one allowed out, except health workers. Gates to the city welded shut.
As an avid tea drinker, it's simple re stained cups/mugs. Fill with water and a few drops of bleach. Then wash properly after they're clear. No stains, and quicker than the baking soda I used to use for mine. I just don't understand why people have so many problems re masks @""Allotment Boy" If folk are only going to a shop, or to travel on public services or similar, what's the problem with wearing one for an hour? They should have a bit of sympathy for the people who have to wear them all day every day for their work, with very few breaks from it. No one wants to be wearing them, but it's such a tiny thing that can be done, and every little thing helps.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I use a drop of distilled vinegar with a bit of fine steel wool to easily remove tea stains from cups (and sinks). Mask wearing is an absolute pain - you can't see down so fishing in your bag for your purse is a faff and extra care has to be taken when going downstairs. But we do it, don't we, because it's our duty. I've now abandoned the cloth masks and taken to wearing FFP2 masks which I believe give me more protection, as well as protecting others from me. When I look around at how most people wear their masks it seems to me that they may as well not bother.

The sink sounds like bug soup.
