My engineer's brain says two different vaccine technologies (not even sure if that's the right word) might give better protection, but it could be completely wrong. That's what I thought @JennyJ. Although I would've been grateful for whatever I got.
We both had boosters last Friday. Yesterday I got NHS text asking me to book my booster. (it said they had no record of my booking, booked three weeks ago) It doesn't inspire confidence in the accuracy of the NHS vaccine passport.

Admittedly I did check that the details matched the card I'd been given. Is your booster not showing on your passport yet?

Gosh, that's not good. Obviously the passport can only reflect what information is input, so it doesn't sound like your vaccine centre were recording things properly 🙁. I hope for your sake that the passports don't become more necessary (I've got to show mine at the weekend, but that's in Wales).

I don't understand the problem with covid passes. Ours are checked when we go into cafés, go to golf, dance, patch, mosaic. They are in the form of a QR code on paper which can also be loaded onto a mobile phone and read by a Covid check app on a mobile. I have one for checking the patch ladies every week as the QR codes will become invalid for anyone eligible for the booster but who doesn't take it.
I find it reassuring to know that everyone around me is vaccinated. We are still wearing masks in these situations too so it is unlikely we'll pick up the virus but at least, if we do, we know that the infection is likely to be mild for us and anyone else we've been in contact with.

Totally agree, I really don't understand this civil liberties nonsense. When I worked in Holland for a year, I had to carry a foreigners card at all times, can't say It ever bothered me.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I had a difficult conversation with a friend this week. She is convinced she knows more about the intricacies of vaccine science than she really does - telling me how all viruses disappear on their own over time, so covid would probably fade out in a few months. Because she is in a cohort that nod along to such guff, they are all convinced they are on par with vaccinologists, or possibly know more than they do. This is how disinformation and half-arsed myths spread about.
She's not trying to spread nonsense on purpose - she just wants to reassure herself, find a sense of 'knowledge' as power - that she knows the score and everything isn't so very terrible after all. But it does do great damage because perpetuting bollocks is always damaging.
