The measles vaccine had only just started when it was time for my sons baby jabs,  they banned it so he didn’t have it,   Then again when I took my daughter in 1975 they’d banned it again so she never had it.

All your talk of boosters got me motivated to see when mine would be offered.  I called up my school district and no one had any idea (they organized our first shots).  So I called up the health department, and they said anytime(!).  No one felt like letting us teachers know.  I got my second shot the 14th of February (a sweet but sharp Valentine’s Day).. so it's been a while.  They offer the Pfizer on Wednesday’s and the Moderna the rest of the week.  I had my first two of Moderna, but am thinking seriously of getting the Pfizer for my third.. as I felt ill for days after with the first two shots.. and my family and friends who had Pfizer felt fine.  Their protection is similar, and the science seems to suggest "pick and mix” appears okay.

Pick and mix is absolutely fine.

@Punkdoc, do you know if there's any benefit to having a different vaccine for the booster? My engineer's brain is trying to tell me that diverse means of stimulating immunity might be a good thing, but I'm no biologist.

    Hi @JennyJ

There is not enough evidence available yet, to say one way or another. I suspect any differences would be too small to measure, but like you I am inquisitive.

Thanks @Punkdoc. Wait and see then. In any case it doesn't change the fact that I'll take whichever booster I'm offered.

As @punkdoc says there is little evidence as yet,. I think I am right in saying that all the vaccines available here target the spike protein, the difference is in how the viral information is carried,  it's possible that one method may stimulate the immune system more. A bigger difference would be if a  particular vaccine targeted another viral protein or as with the Russian sputnik one the whole virus. That's why some scientists have said if you have had natural infection AND the vaccine   you get the best overall protection. NOT  a reason to catch it tho.

Had mine just now, doctor made a point of saying that as I had AZ before, I would now get Pfizer.

Me too. Just back from the church hall, where they had no problems with the fridges...
