It's all become a bit of a contest at the moment hasn't it , Europe is the epicentre of Coronavirus at the moment, Italy is worst effected followed by Spain, does it matter how many in each country test positive for the virus, surely the most important statistic is how many have to be hospitalised and how many die, numbers of how many have the virus are meaningless as most of those will be recovered in a couple of weeks time. The Arsenal manager was tested positive a few days ago but feels better now, what does that tell us?

If someone famous dies of it, all hell will break loose. People can cope with anonymous 'numbers' dying, but if someone rich and famous dies ....
    In London. Keen but lazy.

How supremely ironic and comic it would be if the alledged toxins in tobacco smoke were found to kill Covid-19 affecting the lungs !
I wake up most days with cold and flu like symptoms ; probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway .  >:)

A friend who works in a local hospital has described it as chaotic. They don't have enough masks. 3 confirmed cases. 7 expected to be confirmed but waiting for test results. A firm less than 10 minutes away in Derby  has a test that will produce results in 10 minutes but they are not available in the local hospitals.  All suspected cases have to have lungs  scanned but half the radiology dept has gone off sick. People with flu, a bit of a sniffle or major hypochondria are queuing up to be tested.  The plan has changed twice a day every day for the last week. She is expecting next week to be Hell.

I stand by  my plan of trying to keep Mum isolated and taking food in with no direct contact. I am only going out for essential supplies.  I hate funerals.

Apparently Trump has been tested now...

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    Good advice from pansyface @Songbird-1

My children in France have rung today. Daughters are teachers, will have to teach from home via Internet while looking after their own children. DIL is an orthodontist and most of her patients are children who must stay at home. Restaurants, cinemas, unessential shops etc in France are all shut from Monday. The English C of E church is shut down. We are supposed to be going back on Tuesday, not a good time for travelling. Wish I could stay in Norfolk but need to look after the 2 old horses.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I took the kids to the garden centres today while my wife was in work and you'd have no clue that there was a virus pandemic at the moment. Lots of people out and no signs of anyone taking precautions. There were lots of people I would class as vulnerable walking around too and eating at the cafes and no one seemed to be there with any desperate need to buy anything.

    Stupid question alert!
If Vicks first defence can prevent and improve the recovery rate of colds and COVID19 is similar to colds, has anyone been testing to see if it could be effective on COVID19?
I have wondered about this too, the thing is they say it is not air-born (in fine droplets) like cold & flu and it seems to mostly enter the body by direct contact to mouth nose or eyes so I am not sure if it  (first defence) would have any effect.
    Ah, ok yes

@Songbird-1, according to the BBC, the next step is shielding the ones in the at risk groups. I would speak to someone at the court on Monday about it and demand to speak to someone higher up if you don’t have any joy with the first person. They have a duty of care for your safety.

I was on jury service when on day one when putting in claims for transport costs one chap asked for taxi fare from a town 25 miles away, the clerk said that they wouldn't pay that and he should use public transport when he said that the earliest bus wouldn't get him there until after the court start time he was told that he was excused jury service. They can excuse you if they chose to phone them and say that you are self isolating because you are in an at risk group.
