It seems the authorities haven't been openly testing for at least a week, so can't see how the stats mean anything. I don't think they are trying to "trace and isolate" cases. That seems out of date info.
Punk doc would have a better take on this, but I think it's giving a false impression that the govt know how the virus is progressing across the country. I would say that they can now have little idea as they are not collecting the data. They cannot know.

@Hostafan1 Possibly. Or at least with phrasing making it clear what the stats represent.
The detail does not show "how many cases are there in your area?" Nothing like it. In my specific view we should be specific and clear. This is especially relevant as other countries have taken and are taking different approaches to testing and making it widely and openly available. We can't do that. You end up comparing apples and oranges or zebras and can openers.
I really am not sure about the testing buisness. My personal feeling [ not evidence based ] is that once you reach a certain point, you can pretty much work out how the spread will go and how many new cases a day there will be, but I would willingly accept that it may be guess work. In an ideal situation, which imo we are well beyond, everyone should be tested.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
.my daughter has the sniffles and no other symptoms. She's pretty sure she has a bog standard cold. Does she stay at home? ( rhetorical question) The normal viruses haven't gone away.

It does say " confirmed cases" , I'm happy to accept many more will have it yet not have been identified as such.
If I die from it I'll leave word for Hubby to call @Dovefromabove and let her know.
