I follow what you say about the different demographics with India, but wouldn't you always err on the cautious side? If the indications were that younger groups were targeted (that makes it sound as if a virus is intelligent) - would you not start with that assumption until you had data to prove one way or another?
Good luck to the statisticians who have to try to pick the bones out of the data that's coming through (especially with the moving target that is a variant) - trying to find some 'causality' (to enable and adequate reaction) must be a nightmare.
Tip for those who haven’t been able to book a vaccine, or busy on the open days. Turn up at one of the smaller vaccine centres 30-45 mins before the end. If there have been no shows, they will vaccinate you.
Edit - don’t give them a bull$hit story. Just say you’ve not booked an appointment and ask nicely if they have any spare vaccines due to no shows.
I don't understand this business of people entering shops not wearing masks. Here there are signs on every shop doorway saying masks are obligatory and people wear them. Masks are also required in busy streets in towns and all public buildings and in bars and restaurants until you are sat down.
The vaccine programme has been slower but has been efficient and well run. We managed to get Possum a spare slot and her second jab is on July 9th. Belgium is quietly getting on with its vaccines too and they've invited 18+ groups to book appointments. PCR tests are readily available for travellers or anyone who may have been exposed and they are free with same day results sent by text or internet.
OH and I are both vaccinated but are still being careful about where and what we do and always have masks at the ready. Other than a couple of winter walks on empty beaches and a trip to pack up her apartment over the last 10 days she hasn't been out since last September.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
2 men in our village not wearing masks in the local shop.first time I've seen that ! going to London tomorrow.gulp..wonder whether there will be a lot more not wearing masks in shops and on the train? wonder if Matt hopeless Hancock will make people give up with wearing them?
My local TESCO yesterday, young guy from local family run garage, logo in big letters on his top, firstly nearly flattened me as I was coming out,he had no mask. Went back later for bread, person at the cashier's chatting loudly on his phone,no mask, but cashier was just annoyed that he was on the phone. Number 2 daughter had her jab yesterday, felt great, did a fast mile on her treadmill. Today can hardly move her arm. She's 29,had Phizer, she's had got piercings all over, and a very high pain threshold.
At least a socially distant adulterous relationship is unlikely to result in consequences. I don't believe that STDs or pregnancy can be transmitted at such a distance.
