From my own point of view and experience, all of my friends in their thirties have rigidly stuck to the rules, have worn masks at every opportunity, have stuck to lockdown even if living on their own, have only met outside when allowed, etc etc. In shops near me I see people from young teenagers to twenties and thirties all masked up, sticking to correct distancing. Likewise in the pubs (obviously not the young teenagers...!) and cafes.

Yep, me too.  I'm in my thirties, I work for the NHS and I live alone.  Its been a tough year!

There are people of all ages who are vulnerable to being exploited by conspiracy theorists, and people of all ages who are selfish and don't follow rules, but they are a small minority in every age group.

Thank you, things are getting better now, thank god (or science!) for vaccination.

Wish I hadn’t watched our local news, COVID rife in Cornwall, mainly St. Ives,.
Cornwall  now has the highest rate of infection.
I fear for my son who has to deliver to the St Ives area and is extremely vulnerable, let’s hope the vaccines are working as well as they lead us to believe.
Students stranded in  the university,  they’ve got to get out as their accommodations are booked for holiday lets,  they’ve got to home and their families will have to isolate with them.

In Morrison's today a staff member was removing the social distancing stickers from the floor. Someone remarked to her that they were glad things were getting back to normal. Several people weren't wearing masks in there :|
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I'm not sure I follow what is happening with the Delta variant. They had someone on BBC's Breakfast this morning semi-explaining the 'fact' that younger people appear to be getting the virus more by saying that would be expected as the older groups had been vaccinated. But that seems to totally ignore India to me. I thought India were reporting 60%+ of hospitalisations were <40  age group back in December, and I also thought their vaccination roll out was virtually non existent at that point - but, without the sequencing it's hard to know if that was because of the variant. Could that have potentially  implied that the 'new' delta variant was hitting younger groups, rather than the old as the vaccination effect could be ruled out? I'd love to see the stats from around the globe re the vaccination levels, infection levels etc by age group for the variants.

Impossible to compare the 2 populations: age of populations, provision of hospital beds, being able to pay for treatment etc.

How can you tell if the Delta variant 'targets' younger groups or whether younger groups are more likely to get the virus as the older group have been vaccinated? Can't the effect of the vaccination roll out be clouding the issue with regard to the Delta variant?

Certainly could, my feeling not backed by evidence, is that it is a vaccine related issue.

Of more concern to me, is that of COVID related hospital deaths in the last week, 38% were double jabbed, at least 2 weeks before catching COVID.
