More and more cases are being hospitalised in my area and they are not all in the "older" set.
    Macron due to broadcast tonight.

The truth may have been told innumerable times, but has it been told clearly and unambiguously in a way that cannot be misinterpreted? My brother is no fool. He has a university degree. But he misinterpreted the message.

People need to be told clearly that 70%, say, is a case of 70% ineffective within the entire population not 70% ineffective within an individual’s body.  By that I mean, 100% ineffectiveness in an individual, upon contact with the virus, would equal death. 70% ineffectiveness within an individual’s body would mean a bad dose of flu-like symptoms.

For all those people who have a bad reaction to the jab, like my brother, and think “oh, I must be the Sylvester Stallone of the antibody world” or “oh, I must have caught Covid-19 before and this is my body reacting aggressively to it”, all I can say is this. My brother’s example shows that whatever the bad reaction to the jab indicates, it does not indicate that you have any antibodies in your system. So don’t imagine that you are in any way immune and on the way out of this nightmare.

I hope that I am making myself clear.

Are you trying to say that a vaccine which is 100% ineffective means that if you catch Covid, you will die? That wouldn't be true would it. Even if the vaccine is only 10% effective it still doesn't follow that if you catch Covid you will die or even be severely ill.
I am not a non believer by the way. I am fully vaccinated through my job in a care home (no cases there). OH is due his second in 3 weeks. We have pretty much followed the rules and have reported to Zoe daily😁.

Please forget that I ever mentioned my brother’s case.

I was only trying to be helpful by showing people that the vaccine does not guarantee them, as individuals in a larger community any immunity. It was an eye opener for my brother, that’s all. He misinterpreted the meaning of these percentages. That’s all.

It has now been explained to me, and to my brother, that the percentages that we hear about refer to the population as a whole, rather than to individuals’ reaction to the vaccine.

I apologise for mentioning it. I shall bu&&er off and leave you all to your thoughts. Have a pleasant evening.

You also have not accounted for the fact that the test is not 100% either.  It may be a false negative or he could have low levels of antibody that a finger prick test can't detect, but his immune system is still primed to respond quickly.  We do know that some people are vaccine non responders . These are all possible explanations.  I would want to repeat the antibody test,  with a proper venous sample,  before I would be certain he had no antibodies. Finger prick tests get diluted with excess tissue fluid if they are not performed properly.
I say this as a retired Biomedical scientist,  who spent over 30 years doing exactly these types of test.

OH's 90yo mum just had her second jab at her care home. Problem is her first jab was Pfizer and her second was AZ - that is not supposed to happen and we are now trying to get to the bottom of it. They have her medical records and she still had a card showing which vaccine she had first. It seems that there will be a number of similar cases at the same home. >:)

Yesterday we were going to a GC,  but when we got there the car park was heaving. Given that this particular site is 80-90% covered in &  even though it's huge so lots of space inside,  we decided to give it a miss and go elsewhere.  I don't understand why other people who end up congregating en mass at various places seem incapable of making the same judgement.
