Let me do this bit by bit to see which bit you don't actually agree with
As I seem to have upset various people with this (again - as people seemed to also think that my earlier post on SM shopping was paranoia) - I promise I won't post again on this thread! Huzzah you all shout.
What part of washing your door down with washing up liquid do you not understand, what part of washing your tops down and hand washing do not understand, what part of postman and alcohol based hand rubs do you not understand, you've gone beyond paranoia and are bordering on hysteria, you’re not helping anyone by projecting those thoughts on people. I for one am pleased you're not going to post anymore on this thread.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
I don't mean to be disrespectful but you seriously need to look to give this some context. You honestly stand more chance of been killed in a car accident than covid 19. Again to contextualise 21000 people died of influenza in 2014 in the UK. Several million will be hospitalised in an average flu season in the US. The swine flu pandemic in 2010 infected up to a fifth of the world's population and killed 600000 people Out of a population of approaching 8 billion their has been 35000 deaths worldwide so far attributed to covid 19, quite a chunk of these are questionable due to many of the patients already been terminally or chronically ill. Whilst I'm not dismissing covid 19. To get that worked up about a letter is unnecessary imo

There were 180 deaths from Covid yesterday, compared to about 5 deaths on the road on an average day.
@steveTu, I don’t actually disagree with any of your points, what I am asking is for you and others to cultivate a sense of perspective, not induce a sense of panic within yourself or others and conduct proportionate risk assessments. Please do not to let paranoia (and I am sorry, but that is exactly how it comes across) rule your life.
I outlined why I thought this letter was necessary as part of a multi-communication strategy and gave a personal example of how it would have helped me - a university-educated, informed, and I hope thoughtful and analytical person who would have otherwise missed the message, in my isolated, local TV-free position. If this letter reaches and impacts on the thinking and behaviour of just 1% of UK households, causing them to heed the advice to stay at home, take appropriate precautions when they have to go out and when they return to their homes, that is a huge number of additional people preventing the spread of the virus.
This letter will be a single item that will reach each household once. I outlined how sanitation and quarantining of shopping is more important - again, it is about proportion. The weekly shop can contain, say, 30 separate items, all handled by multiple people in the supply and distribution chain, shelf stackers and the public.
For the record, I am extremely careful, wear appropriate protection and I do treat my home as my ‘safe space’. Anything which enters it, including myself reentering, my car, my shopping bags and my shopping are carefully sanitised and items quarantined for three days, including post. I have been in lockdown for 16 days now and these measures are just automatic. However, I am upbeat, cheerful and calm and have retained a healthy sense of perspective.
Follow the government guidance, stay safe, stay calm.
I will say no more on the matter.

1.3 million people die a year worldwide in road traffic accidents....
1650 die everyday in the UK of all sorts of illness and conditions. The figures you quote are also skewed by the fact that here in the UK we are not conducting post death analysis like in germany
We have to consider our mental health during this pandemic. A constant state of anxiety = stress which is not good for the body. Wash your hands, avoid touching your face (bloody hard), wear gloves/wipe down where appropriate.
A little levity...I’ve never seen so many damn people jogging!!

Stop moving the goal posts! Btw, the deaths from Covid only include those who die in hospital. The fact that more people die from other causes (at present) does not mean that deaths from Covid are any less important.
