Check the WHO website, I can see no mention of making your own gel, but I may be wrong. A lot of gels contain less than 60% alcohol, in which case they are useless.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
@barry island - this recipe you cite uses ethanol, hydrogen peroxide and glycerol and is designed for production by hospitals, not individuals. Concentrations very carefully controlled. No mention of vegetable oil or bleach.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
The only hand sanitiser we've been able to get is Boots Anti-Viral Hand foam which claims to kill 99.9% of viruses and gives 8 hr protection but has no alcohol in it. Does this means it's useless @Punkdoc?
No I wasn't quite correct but the ingredients contain Hydrogen Peroxide which I believe is bleach and it has some sort of oil which is similar to glycerol, I wasn't actually giving a recipe I was generalising somewhat, I do hope that no one read my post and actually considered that it contained a recipe because it didn't just a heads up that there is a WHO recipe for hand sanitiser which may be ten years out of date and not mention Caronavirus but none the less is a recipe for hand sanitise which as it states is useful when washing facilities are not to hand.
I can’t see how any of these shop floor products can boast killing this virus, none have been tested as the virus has not been circulated yet for testing, even Dettol spokesman said he didn’t know as they haven’t been testing yet. Soap and water is the best and I will continue to wash down worktops etc with soap.
