We had snow this morning. The polystyrene ball type. I thought it was blossom petals at first, except it melted when it landed. I have one solitary normal tulip out. Bit early for them here, the red species (tarda?) type are out.
On a walk by the river last Monday there was a clump of marsh mallows. I couldn't resist picking one. The petals are starting to fall now, but such a cheerful colour. The few hyacinths are old bulbs, they get used in pots in the house, then thrown out into the garden. They never have those picture perfect blooms again, but the fragrance is divine.
Spring wreath! Lots of pruning done today, shame to throw on the compost heap and our local council have stopped the Green Bin collections so hey presto made a Spring Wreath for a change, not a Jam Jar but never mind !!
My first three red climbers of the year. Lot in bud now. Ena Harkness, Crimson Glory and Guinee. Guinee smells strongly of a pot of bubbling strawberry jam. Amazing. It's holding its scent really well. My Ena only holds scent for the first day, on or off the plant.
Roses already.Gosh, I still have daffodils out. I do have a Rhododendron fragrantissimum with a flower out. It smells like the cherry lips sweets we used to get as kids.
