Chive I’m so sorry to hear of your mums friend Doris passing away.   I hope your mum will be okay it is a sad time.  It has been a sad start to the new year for many.  With the warmer weather coming and gardening begins I hope we find it therapeutic whatever you enjoy doing.  My warmest wishes to you.  I think Alfie already knows there is something afoot.  I just don’t want him getting too distressed.  Apparently she is very experienced and is used to difficult and older cats it could take two grooms if he allows her to do it.  Anyway fingers crossed.
  • So relieved to hear there are other box hoarders like myself. Especially shoe boxes with attached lids.
There is something wrong with my wardrobe. Everything I put in it has shrunk by the time I get around to wearing it!
I live in an old stone cottage so I have spiders aplenty and cobweb drapes and I am an insatiable "keep it, it might be useful one day!" collector. Note I avoid using the word hoarder.
As sure as eggs, if I have a clear out or throw out I will need something I have just got rid of. How about the very small black rubber or metal thingeys which I find on the floor, obviously fallen off something, no idea what. They have to be kept in case I find the thing the thingey fell off.

Hello Joyce I’ve been quite a hoarder myself over the years you never know when something will be of use.  The old stone cottage sounds lovely are you rural.  Just wanted to say welcome to the forum it’s a friendly group and I hope you enjoy it.

Welcome to this thread Joyce. Having seen some of your posts on other threads I think you'll fit right in here.🙂

News from York about FIL not sounding good. Think I'm going to drive up early tomorrow morning. Need to go and put fuel in the car ready. SYL.

Hello and welcome JGL to we fellow 'boxers' and 'whatever it is, I'm not throwing it away because it might be useful'. I've managed to do a couple of hours in the garden and greenhouse and just looked what popped up in the GH when I wasn't paying attention:
My little species Narcissi. Their name is Arctic Bells and they belong to the bulbocodium family.
T'Bird, take care driving tomorrow. You will obviously have your FIL in your thoughts, so take extra care.

They took me quite by surprise T'Bird. Amazing how they just quietly get on with growing. Admittedly they have the shelter of the greenhouse and I think I will keep them in the pot rather than planting them into the garden.

That’s a good idea LB. You might well lose them if your soil is waterlogged. They’re probably as tough as old boots but they look very delicate.

Thanks for the good wishes re FIL everyone. Not looking forward to finding out about the ‘other’ 6 o’clock in the day again but needs must. Thought about driving up this afternoon but I needed to pack the house up, pack my bags, one of the roads out of the village was blocked by an accident and two others by flooding, I needed fuel and the M11 / A14 bit was blocked by an accident. It would have taken ages. As it is, I’m ready to go, I can get a reasonable night’s sleep and still be there for about 9.30am.

OH thought that made more sense.

That definitely does make more sense T'Bird. It should be relatively quiet on the roads tomorrow morning. When I go down to see my rellies it usually is.
