On Saturday I used the Fixmystreet portal to report overhanging shrubs and brambles on the pavement very near my house. At lunchtime today Rutland County Council sent out a team to do the necessary pruning.  #impressed.

Is that allowed?  Planning permission?  Housing control?  Building standards?

If you're referring to my neighbour's parents moving in the answer is actually 'No'.  The planning permission specifically stated that the cabin was to be used for occasional occupation only, and that is what was applied for.  Fortunately they are all really nice people so I don't have a problem with it.  It was only by the parents selling their house and helping towards this house purchase that the younger couple could afford it.  I suspect they will be in the house long after we have popped our clogs, but if they did move I would certainly then contact the council if new occupants try to use it as permanent accommodation.

I'd never heard of Fixmystreet, it's now in my Favourites list.

Me neither.  Just gone on and someone had reported something that was really annoying me and then it was magically resolved.  Now I know why!  Thanks @BenCotto

Been using it for years - v useful. Not all local councils subscribe to it though.

My RTBC today is that there's a lovely cool breeze (I'm still reeling from the heat last week and relishing every cool moment and drop of rain).

Very happy for you @Nanny Beach !  I would love a haircut but my lovely village hairdresser has gone  :(

However, my RTBC involves the sun coming out, next door packing up for the day (so peace at last) and another gallon of cucumber soup in the freezer.   Just about to have a bowl with some fresh, homemade naan mmmmmmmmm

We've got actual sunshine and blue skies today (well, mostly, just had heavy shower of rain). Makes me feel much happier. Also had a slice of chocolate cake which adds to the happiness scale.
