It is looking lovely @newprojectgarden. How do you keep your dog off the beds? I have to have mainly pots and shrubs because my dogs trample everything especially if they see a squirrel!

He seems to mostly avoid the beds, just pees on the lawn instead!
Thanks for the comments Yes, unfortunately we haven't had a great summer weather wise (at least I haven't needed to use the sprinkler or hosepipe though...) but i'm happy with how the garden is progressing.
I have been hard at work again today......
I removed the plants from the bottom of the left hand border and installed a root barrier and planted 4 x fargesia campbell bamboos. It was really hard work installing the barrier but it turned out ok in the end. In a few years these bamboo should block the view from the houses to the left and give the patio area and a bit in front some privacy. Next week I plan to do the same on the right hand side ( I just have 2 bamboos for this area)
