The other year @WonkyWomble gave me a lovely trug made by a friend's father ... this summer, in the spirit of making do with what we'd got, I lined it with a compost bag, filled it with old compost from repotting some hostas, and planted up a couple of pieces of Ajuga reptans from other spots in the garden ... 'Black Scallop' and 'Burgundy Glow' ... think it looks happy enough ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
It's rather a dull day today but stil... a last hurrah. New fencing this year which seems all rather bare and a sunflower that is never going to flower (went in too late) , but the height and foliage is fun. And yes, there is bindweed.
A few still hanging on and a couple of new residents flowering for the first time.
The controversial September Charm is living up to its name
Tiarella Iron Butterfly is still producing new flowers in its dark corner by the wheelie bins!
The new Tiarella (Raspberry Sundae) is growing quickly and now has five cones of flowers. Creeping Jenny (why do I always think of Susan?) has grown a little and the Heuchera Cherry Cola cutting is doing well.
Lamium White Nancy has sprung its first flower and ajuga reptans Braunherz has also flowered a month after purchase.
And finally the Spirea Shirobana is slowly running out of steam but the bees are still visiting throughout the day (haven't had chance to deadhead)
