Hello Rebecca, Pauline, Ante and Ruby. Ante, those biscuits look divine. I could just eat a couple for breakfast with my cup of tea.
p.s. thanks for the heads up Hazel. I think they have those Poirot films on a permanent loop!

If that wasn't so supremely incompetent Ruby it would be laughable.

Morning Chive. Glad you had a nice end of term day yesterday. I'll find out today about Bestie's Mum but I assume all went well as I didn't hear from her last night. I am ashamed to say that the cake is not yet quite finished. It could end up being a New Year cake rather than a Christmas cake

Morning Joyce. Mouth fully defrosted now? I am definitely working on the cake when I get back from my Bestie's today. Ruby, I think you ought to threaten them with your cats when you contact them! Plonkers.

Afternoon everyone🙂 Visit from the hairdresser this morning. She was very late because 3 or the 4 routes into village are flooded and impassable in her little car. Now need to get on with a bit of cooking.

Rubee - 😂😩😂 - that is the funniest post I’ve seen in ages. Takes me back to the early days of SM deliveries when you’d order toilet rolls and get orange juice😁

Ante - those biscuits look and sound delicious. Might have to ask for the cardamon biscuit recipe😋

Chive - nothing quite like that first day of freedom at the start of the hols. How's your cold coming along - just a cold or is it the lurgy? That cake looks yummy.

LB - hope you've had a good time with your Bestie.

Joyce - are you feeling a bit better today? Hate having fillings done...

Rebecca - a little doze is in order for you

Hazel - good luck with getting on top of your jobs

Top tip for anyone considering the hell of supermarkets this weekend: if you can face it go at about 9pm. We had an unexpected evening out last night. One of OH's friends was playing with a guitar club in a nice pub in town. I was supposed to go to W'rose today after hair cutting.

Decided, instead, to drop OH at the pub just after 8pm and go and do my last 'big shop' 45 mins before closing. It was lovely. Just me and about 6 other customers and lots of staff. All the shelves were fully stocked ready for the weekend onslaught and I was done and dusted in 30mins.

Knew there was something (non essential but nice) that I could get from Asda so thought I'd risk that too. They were open until midnight and marginally busier - maybe 30 shoppers total. In and out in 5.

In the pub enjoying guitar music, convivial company and a slimline tonic (🚗 so no gin🤨) by 9.30. Brilliant!

Topbird a quick shop for you and back to the pub sounds lovely.  Joyce lm glad your mouth has defrosted now.  Chive what a lovely cake I could do with a slice  :).  I went back to bed this morning and woke up had poached egg on toast and then popped to the sm for a selection of cheeses and to take some prawns to Rubees for tea.  A lot of very tired looking people in the sm.  chiveenjoy your visit to mum.

Evening all. Thank you all for nice words.
Friday afternoon finally. I'm feeling tired but whole weekend is in front of me. I'll have a day rest of baking then must do some for my colleagues at Monday. Damp and cloudy day here.

Chive, your Christmas cake is beautiful. Taste must be divine.

T'bird, I must first translate recipe accurate, then I'll write it here.
