Afternoon. Just back from a family afternoon with card-swapping, mince pies, etc. Almost feel festive! Just waiting for the SM delivery now. Had an email to say they’ve Ā substituted oven-bottom muffins (basically bread rolls) with toasting muffins but I’ll keep them as they’ll be nice for a snack. Luckily I already have some bake-at-home baguettes for bread roll substitute as I’m not going shopping again until after Xmas. I was expecting more things not to be available so I’m happy with it being just the rolls.Ā

    Hope you guys are ok.Ā

More faffing with decorations here and putting together the cake part of the Creole cake with all the drunken fruit to start baking and starting off the slow roast belly pork in another oven.Ā  Ā Making a Scandinavian style 2 dimensional tree for the hall and it ain't as easy as it looks.Ā  No prezzies wrapped yet.Ā  Asking for trouble with two dogs and two cats.

Howling gales again here and serious sleet and hail smashing on the windows at dusk so all blinds now down.Ā  Ā Some eejit didn't recharge the battery for the drill/screwdriver so the assembling of the real cat flap wind tunnel is held up.Ā  Ā That means another noisy night with the temporary fix that doesn't work in 90pmh winds.

Wouldn't want to be away from home for Xmas but safe journeys and good times to all setting off for other parts.Ā  Hope you and Moira enjoy your break @punkdoc.

Glad you've had a good day @Dovefromabove.Ā  Haven't had a toasting muffin in decades @AuntyRach but I think I might have a go at making crumpets.Ā  Found my crumpet rings today while hunting out Xmas cutters for biscuits.

I succumbed and ended up having a siesta, so almost guaranteed another sleep poor night.Ā

For anyone else who would like to know the setting for the flirty dancing that Hosta mentioned, I’ve found it.Ā

Good stuff @Lyn. I think it's a hotel now if you want to go and stay Hosta.

We've had a wedding invite in with the Xmas card, a full 6 months before the happy day!Ā  In the middle of Oxford so we'll be looking for a hotel as well.

Good morning @Pat E and everyone else as you arrive 😊 ā˜•ļøĀ
We’re nearly there šŸŽ„ just a quick supermarket dash for a few odds and ends and then a bit of ineffectual waving of a duster and that’s it ... I might make a few mince pies and sausage rolls tomorrow while I listen to the Carols from King’s College ... and Christmas will have started ...
