Hi Aunty Rach and Dove. We stupidly went to ALDI and Coles this morning 🤬, what a nightmare. still, I ve been relaxing inside since we got home, and we wrapped presents in preparation of the kids coming for Christmas.
We are off to Leclerc again, the hunt for lemon sole continues. Daughter said if I can't find it then could I get salmon tails instead. Fish course on Christmas Day, at daughter's.
Man from water board has just been. He's looking for leaks. Madame the pharmacist's wife across the fields has reported low water pressure. Water may be off again this afternoon.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Best of luck with the water, BL. Not what you want just before Christmas...
We were in Galway yesterday to hear our daughter singing in the Cathedral carol service. The Cathedral was packed, and so was Galway - we didn't need to buy anything, which was a relief. I'll do the last minute food shopping in the town this morning (how did I manage to run out of flour?), which is much more civilised. We're spending Christmas day with our granddaughters and their parents, so we expect a fair amount of noise and excitement... it may be a relief to get home in the evening...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Morning Dove - good luck with SM! Bet it will be bonkers!
It wasn't too bad really ... only one person before me at the checkout and there and back in around an hour ... now I'll have a coffee and unpack it all and put it away. Then I've got a gammon to deal with ..
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Have a wonderful time @Liriodendron ......Christmas is even more magic with little ones around
Went to the Winchester Christmas market yesterday - very festive in the grounds of the cathedral. Littlest Chicklet felt she needed to make up for being away for most of December with a concentrated hit of Christmas-y stuff 🎄🎄🎄
Today is the last SM run, then making some desserts to keep us going over the coming week .......chocolate mousse and raspberry cheesecake 😋😋😋
Thanks, @chicky - I'm sure we will indeed have a wonderful time. Hope you do too... raspberry cheesecake sounds like a lovely antidote to Christmas pud!

We went to Hyper U first as I thought they would be more likely to have Lemon sole, but they hadn't, so I bought halibut and salmon instead. The fish is to be served cooked, but cold and served with a chaudfroid sauce and decorated. I usually make it in summer and use edible flowers but the deer ate the violas I was thinking of. I have just found that the violas on the other side of the house are now out so I can use them.
I also wanted to buy daughter's Mum in law something. I had forgotten that she was going there for Christmas too, well I knew but forgot to buy a pressie. So I had to go to Leclerc in the end as they have a shopping mall. l looked at the fish counter in the SM and the queue was huge, they were only selling shellfish, caviar, and huge lobsters. Way beyond my budget! Bought MiL body lotion in her favourite perfume.
It was a different road to Hyper U, more countrified, different river. The river was overflowing, the fields were lakes and people's gardens were flooded.

More heavy gales and rain for us last night. Really bad for sleeping so feeling weary today. Have been out with Possum to pick up some gingham I need to start an experiment with Swiss embroidery and then went to our usual Leclerc to pick up some bits I forgot the other day. It wasn't mad but we did get there at lunchtime and did not need to go anywhere near the fresh fish and meat counters.
Lots of flooded fields along the way but then we are at the upper edge of the Marais Poitevin so lots of water channels and rivers and streams flowing to the sea close by.
No Xmas pud here and Possum says my chocolate mouse is too rich so maybe a steamed chocolate or treacle pud for us. Still thinking.
Hope everyone gets what they need in good time and no panicking. Enjoy yourselves.
We're off out to see the new Star Wars film tonight and then flopalot at home.

Things a bit of a mess here, not sure we are going to get away tomorrow, but hoping to. Wishing everyone on here a wonderful Christmas, whether you celebrate it or not. Thank you for your friendship throughout 2019.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Happy Christmas @punkdoc, do hope you manage your getaway.
I think I'm nearly there, just decs to go on pressies and one more bed to make up - ours! I braved our little Tesco earlier for some bits and pieces which wasn't too bad at all. Their tins of chocs were only £3 so just might have to go back tomorrow - or send OH!
