Well it was a muddy job yesterday, but I did get some sort of base leveled for my small greenhouse, later today I am removing those 2 flags in the centre square, and I am going to use my plastic grid filled with stones, then I am going to bolt the base down with 8 screws, I have heard of these small greenhouses blowing away in a gale.

It's coming along nicely!  What are you planning to grow in the greenhouse?

Lizzie27, I will grow the obvious tomatoes, and I have always wanted a grapevine since my Dad took me as a wee nipper to his mates, and he had a huge greenhouse, and the top was full of bunches of green grapes, this small one of mine won't accommodate anything like, but I just might see! and I want to grow hot peppers, strawberries etc, I used to live near to Oldham, and I had a small garden, but I had all kinds of things growing, even in the frozen North.
  • If you’re planning a grapevine in there now’s the perfect time to watch the first of these videos

I ran out of chippings to finish the greenhouse base, had a right job getting the frame square, but I did and then screwed it to the flagstones in 8 spots, expecting rotten weather tomorrow, so I can't see me getting much done, will go to my workshop to play with motorbikes.
  • If you can get to Hampton Court you can see the way the huge grapevine is planted there ... apparently it was planted on top of the buried corpse of a donkey ... slow release fertiliser.

I have driven past Hampton Court Palace on many occasions, it looks dead interesting, Henry the eighth and all that, I should go see this vine.

Trust me, it's very impressive !
If you time your visit for early September,  you can buy grapes from it.

Well I took the Primrose greenhouse to the local tip (why don't I read the comments) it was so poor that I am sure it would have blown away, so I got a 3m x 2m polytunnel, I managed to build the frame, but I am waiting for some heat tape to stop the plastic melting to the metal frame in the heat (what heat?) it's flippin freezing and there is another huge storm on the way, so the cover can sit and wait. I planted 2 of the 3 apple tree graftings that I picked up, I also have a Victoria Plum, a gooseberry bush, a blackcurrant bush, and a grapevine. I can't wait to get moving, but the weather has been horrible.
