OK.  We have a wee weather station which has a battery operated temperature reader but solar powered wind and rain measurement.  Odd really.
A solar-powered device to measure wind and rain sounds rather oxymoronic. ;)

The system itself turns out to be a bit moronic @Papi Jo.   Seems to decide for itself what it's going to repot back to the monitoring device so we don't always get wind speeds and direction or sometimes it decides we don't need to know about every drop of rainfall.

Some rechargable batteries don't get on with equipment that has a really low power draw so trail cams can have problems with them after a while.

I use a Bushnell camera which is quite old now and starting to play up a bit. It's served me well over the years but it's 50/50 whether it will bother taking photos or not anymore. I no longer have access to good places to put it though so can't justify replacing it.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • We have the Apeman H55 , have enjoyed watching all summer the antics of our hogs ( and the odd cat) It does use up the batteries quite fast, but when it is taking up to 60 shots a night, three photos in quick succession and every fourth one is a minute of video it's getting plenty of use. 😁

Despite all the info, OH is now looking at the newest version of the H55 as it can be connected to a power source and he's also thinking to start with one and see how good it is before getting a second.  Probably reasonable.

Now to see if we can find one locally to get after sales service if needed.  Really prefer not to use Amazon.

That’s why we went for a solar powered one...

Our garden is maybe 2/3rds size of yours, with large mare, meadow, and many hedges. And we’ve already found that we want to move the camera around as we got bored with seeing the same fox and badger every night.   So one is certainly enough for us.

(and big cheer for not wanting to use Amazon...support real shops if you can as keeps towns alive)

Oh, and while I remember it... 2 memory cards are very useful especially if the camera is put a long way away from the house!

Thanks.  Not having any luck finding a local supplier so now looking at Nantes.

Anything from Amazon you can find on Ebay. I recommend Ebay.

I do that too @Fire. I try to avoid Amazon wherever possible.
