Or how many people have to die before they put up a sign?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Same way the deer know to run across motorways and dual carriageways when their triangle sign is there!

  • Just caught up again.
@B3 Re the combi microwave oven, I don't know about your model but ours means you can roast a small chicken in 40 mins by putting it on Oven at 180 AND microwave simmer at the same time. Saves time and electricity win win! Just dont put in a metal tray we use a glass pyrex dish.

I believe it does all that kind of thing. The booklet is about 1/4" thick! One day I'll give it a go.

  • Our new house comes with an oven like yours, @B3.  Instruction book is thinner when you remove the half written in German... but even so, operation is in no way intuitive.  We've been here 5 weeks, and I keep trying things... got the grill to work today for the first time...

We had a combination microwave/convection oven with our new kitchen.  Tried doing a pizza, exactly as the instruction book and it came out soggy.  Had to put it under the grill of our normal oven to make it edible.

I won't be using the grill. They get splattered and smoky and uncleanable

Was watching the BBC News channel a week or so ago with a review of the day's news items with something on pensions, life expectancy, care etc and apparently 60 is the new 40 and you're not old till you're 70.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that old is ten years older than oneself.

I disagree.  'Old' is in the eye of the beholder.  A cousin of my mother used to talk about giving the 'old folk' a lift to the day centre.  At the time he was in his mid 80s and many of his passengers were in their 70s.
