Afties all. I nipped to L**l before going to Bestie's as I wanted some more fruit for further C*******s cakes. When I got back to my car an alarm went off which made me jump out of my skin. Message on the dash board with accompanying diagram informed me the the battery in my keyless fob was very low. Luckily my Bestie had a suitable replacement battery and once we found the instructions on YouTube we got it changed. It is so long since I have needed to change the battery that I had forgotten what to do.
Well for once it stayed dry here - probably because my Bestie and I went for a walk armed with umbrellas. We only had to walk about a mile and a half, aiming for the super fish and chip shop where we planned to eat. The wind was behind us on the walk out but in our faces on the return journey and it had a serious bite to it but we both enjoyed our walk.
Runners, I put the little polystyrene cover over my outside tap yesterday ready for the winter. I absolutely love those dinky little parrots and wish that I could crochet. Joyce, how are you fixed for a correspondence course???
My loft is wonderfully clear of everything bar my luggage. I deliberately don't put anything else up there now since the dekkies moved into the defunct airing cupboard.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Afties all - I'm cold - can't wait to light the fire!
We went over to Ipswich this morningto take the lawnmower for service only to find the workshop permanently closed. Has been since August but nothing to say that on the website🤬 Will either have to take it to another branch or find someone new - hate chasing around like that.
Did a bit of seasonal shopping (well - bought some cards and a bottle of nice gin for me🤭) and treated us to a couple of new bath sheets and a mini food processor. I have a big processor but it's a bit big and heavy to lug around and I rarely use it. The little bowl on this new one looks just the right size for chopping one or two onions etc.
We're book people too but we use the library all the time and only buy reference and cookery books. I also have a very special little handwritten cookbook which my great grandmother put together for my grandmother when she got married. It's in pieces but a lovely thing to own. My grandmother made her own entries and it's nice to see both their hand writing as they both died before I was born.
Mainly dates from the 1920's and 30's but there are a couple of recipes which clearly date from times of rationing in the 40's. One recipe requires the juice of a lemon and grandma has written a big (Ha ha!) after it - so I guess that was when lemons were few and far between.
Lovely little crochet birds Runners - some people are very clever.🙂
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Runners, I put in the bulbs myself....sat on a chair for ones going in pots and on the kneeler for the ones in the garden. They are all small species ones this year so the wind wont batter them. The crochet birds are very sweet.....may look for the pattern. LB, hope you enjoyed your fish and chips. Ante, is that your planting finished now until the spring?
I didn’t realise those lovely little parrots were crochet work. I will have to look for similar to knit . I would love to crochet and read the patterns .But I can only crochet mats .
Runners ,I guessed that you hadn’t done the crochet .The pic looked like a stock pic . That is so clearly written Runners . Your daughter will treasure your recipe book .
I've a recipe book that my Mum got and inscribed for my great aunt Nellie. It is falling to bits. Its got hand written recipes from my Mum and both my sisters in it which have been added over the years until it finally ended up with me. Sadly my great aunt died before she could use it. I just add my favourite recipes - in fact my C*******s cake recipe is in this book.
