I’ve just been log splitters assistant - think we nearly have enough to see us through winter now šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

payback is that Mr C is going to dig the holes for my roses for me šŸ˜‡......he’s far quicker at digging holes than me Ā ā™ ļø šŸ•³ šŸ•³ šŸ•³ ā™ ļøĀ
  • Well done @chicky 😊 and great negotiating šŸ‘Ā

Great to have a good hole digger 😊

Of course the real trick with digging holes is knowing when to stop šŸ˜‰Ā

  • Great dinner again. Roast beef Yorkshire pudding sprouts leeks roasting and home made gravy. Bosting can't beat itĀ

I could have done with Mr C recently @chicky :)
Outdoor activity on hold as i decided to do the girls' mirror. Nearly as awkward as the ruddy shower!
Done now, but if I hadnt been able to find my indoor measuring tape, I might have missed this...

There's a story attached to them, which the nice chap who came to look at the roof told me. He asked me if I'd ever seen parakeets and I'd said no. He said they're escapees from some bloke who had them in an aviary somewhere on the south side of Glasgow. About an hour after he went away, it clicked. I'd been seeing 2 or 3 birds fleetingly over the last year or two, but couldn't ID them at all. Everything I checked up on didn't fit what I'd seen, and of course, they always appeared for a few seconds, and only very occasionally.Ā
So today - they made their first appearance in the gardenĀ  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Aren’t they gorgeous! Have they tried to get into your ā€˜cage’ yet?

Are they not from the wild variety in EnglandĀ  ??

No - they were just enjoying the fat feeders @Dovefromabove. One was sitting on the screen, and then went on the feeder. The other one appeared and sat in the big conifer, then they both tucked in, much to Mr Magpie's annoyance, as he thinks it belongs to himĀ  ;)
I think the cage might be a bridge too far - unless they have a saw.....

Think they come equipped with pliers @Fairygirl Ā šŸ˜‰Ā

We’re still waiting to see siskins ... not so common around here.Ā

Love siskins @Dovefromabove. I had a little pair earlier in the year. We used to get them regularly round the corner, but this was the first time in this garden. The chaffies were back in yesterday, and the goldies were in today.Ā

Hopefully these paras might visit now and again. First fall of snow might mean they'll stick closer to wherever they're residing just now though, unless they want to borrow my ice axe and crampons...Ā  ;)
