Hello all. We were on the road too today, back from La Rochelle.
We had a lovely time, weather was great. The first day we walked along the port to the beach and had a light lunch in a beach café. The two men had a rest in the afternoon and my friend and I went to look at the shops in the old town. In the evening we had sea bass and wine in a restaurant overlooking the port.
The next day we went to the fabulous aquarium. It was beautifully done and had jellyfish, shellfish, coral, sea anemones etc as well as amazing fish of all shapes and colours. We had a lightish lunch in the restaurant above with fantastic views. In the evening we had another delicious meal in a restaurant, I had Dover sole which I haven't had for years.
The photo is the view from our bedroom.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Have you got your pinny on @Hostafan1? Morning all/afties Pat if you're looking in. Lovely day here again, but it's only 6 degrees just now. Sun is out, and so are the birds. Might need these today Nice view @Busy-Lizzie
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I think it'll get to at least that today @Pat E. It was 18 yesterday for a while, although it took a while to get there, and only a light breeze. It was beautiful. I love autumnal days like that

Good afternoon everyone. Another gorgeous sunny day here with a light breeze at last. leaves are not so much autumnal as crispy round the edges but the liquidambars on the road to La Roche are turning nicely now.
Busy day again. Morning meeting with some Brits to plan a future school cookery event. This is the British arm of the local Franco-British club who have adpted a school in La Roche and help out with English for the restaurant and commercial sections. The Brit who is schools liaison thought we could plan ahead of the meeting in February and tell them how it should be. Given she's been a head teacher - Portugal and UK but not France - you'd think she'd know better. It's chaotic, but fun, and we have to respond, not ordain.
That led to inviting new friend Steph to lunch because she's just started beginners ' classes in patch machine which I did last year and had her mind blown last Tuesday. Have explained and demonstrated some basics and she now has her head on straight again.
Meanwhile, tomato processing proceeds apace. Supposed to get cool and damp for a week from Monday on so picking the ripe ones and encouraging the rest. The big beefsteak types are now coming in at a mere 500 or 600g a piece.
Might have a little zizz now and then patchwork homework to sort out for Monday's class wot I am running. You never know, we might get damp enough to tackle some gardening next week!! Famous last words/tempting providence etc etc.

Sounds as if Dove and Hosta have had a lovely day for their garden inspection etc. It's certainly been beautiful here, though I've only been able to appreciate it through windows - doctor's, car, hospital... nothing earth-shattering, just checking how my eye is coping with the shingles. All well so far, got a 2-month supply of eye drops and a follow-up hospital appointment before we leave for Ireland.
Evening all. I won't add 'ello, 'ello, 'ello. Oops... Is it any better pain wise though @Liriodendron, or much the same ? Pretty miserable for you, especially when the weather's good I keep eating any tomatoes that are ready when I'm out there @Obelixx. I need a bigger greenhouse! It's been glorious here. Got to 22, with a light breeze, after another chilly start. Been busy tootling and ferdiddling with various bits and pieces. Very satisfying.
