Afties all. It seems like there is a wide spread of temperatures throughout the land. It wasn't quite as cold as in Derbyshire but I felt decidedly chilly here. PF - your frosts have come earlier this year. I wonder if it is going to be a hard winter?
Hazel, laughter is definitely the best medicine, especially with family.
T'Bird - snow?? That actually sounds delightful but I don't want any here just yet. Enjoy the GP. Chive I reckon I'll be following your actions with the tomatoes. I want to top up my compost bin and all those plants will just about do it. My Bokashi bins arrived on Friday and are now ensconced in the GH so it will be interesting to see how they go on. The majority of stuff that will go into them is Lily's leavings. I never put food waste into the compost bin because of their attraction to vermin and flies.
Chey, your dinner sounds very warming and delicious.

Ah thanks Runners. That will be just the job.

  • Just come in from a lazy afternoon in the garden. OH and I sat and chatted, read books, drank tea, ate biscuits 😳 and listened to silence apart from the birds tweeting. My sort of Sunday afternoon........well except seeing the poppets😉😍😍
Biggest poppet enjoyed her first days at school, lets hope it continues.......if not I'll just kidnap her and she can come and live with Nanna 😉😂😂
Yes RB, enjoyed Strictly.......apart from the screams and leaps of the professionals pretending their excitement of finding out who they were partnered with...........as if they didn't know🙄😉 Bit trashy at times, but I enjoy it. Always record it so I can whizz through the boring bits.
  • Ooops soz, meant to say .......Chey can you send some of your evening meal down the tunnel to me please.......i'll make my own mash too 😉😋😋

Sorry TB you snickered in after I had posted.   It sounds lovely where you are.  Sitting in a hot tub as snow is falling on your head is just lovely.

It is Runners - it is. But I do associate the experience more with winter sports holidays than summer ones🤣

BTW - just in case you were getting worried - I definitely don’t do winter sports but OH likes a swish down the ski slopes. I do, however, like mountain views, trips in cable cars, hot chocolate and marshmallows at the top of a mountain, gluhwein, and crackling log fires. I just don’t need to run the risk of breaking a leg or worse on 2 planks of wood - clumsy as heck is me - with zero sense of balance.

LB - I’ve used green tomatoes to make chutney but also a sort of pickle which is quicker than the chutney and a bit chunkier and crisper. If you Google something along the lines of hamburger relish you’ll probably find a recipe.

Here’s one example LB - plenty of others out there:

SGL - that sounds like a near perfect Sunday🙂

I've noticed my Morning Glory outside - that had the main climbing tendril chewed off - is growing new leaves still?? Isn't it a bit late for that?

T-Bird thank you so much for that tip too. I would hate to have to just throw them away but I will keep waiting. I have some in a bowl in the kitchen and they are ripening up nicely.
Chey, as long as it is mild enough things will continue to grow. The first hard frost will more than likely see it off.

Night night Runners. I'm not watching Strictly, The Capture or Deep Water.

    Good evening.
I'm preparing for school tomorrow. Its nasty weather outside. Thunders and lightning. Had a short nap this afternoon and then guests arrived.

RUNNY I just spread butter or marmalade and with glass of milk it's a perfect snack for me.
