I've always been a bit of a loner @Obelixx, for want of a better word. Happier in my own company, especially after the last relationship. Horses for courses though.  I found being at work was enough mingling and chat for me, and I like meeting people on hills - you soon learn which ones want a chat and which don't. It's funny how many walkers feel the same though - they need some solitude.   :)

@BenCotto- sod all and bugger all are to be highly recommened I think  :D

During the last few years of my working life, I grew to be very fond of doing nothing.  Five years into retirement, I'm getting better at it every day.

I don't think that qualifies as curmudgeonly though  ;)

We all need days when we can do nothing and not be made to feel guilty but I can't do nothing every day.  I need a sense of achievement or satisfaction for a job done well or something creative accomplished or just a clean house after a domestic day or a good meal cooked.

I think this belongs in Curmudgeon’s Corner rather than Reasons to be Cheerful: I just found a newt walking across the dining room floor. It had not a care in the world, indeed I think I heard it whistling ‘Don’t fence me in’ as I picked it up and released it into the care of the parsley plants by the back door. I suspect it came in by hitching a ride on the long haired cat.

Feel free to be cheerful here too - sometimes. I do it myself when I can't find the happy thread😉

I save time by never being cheerful :)
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
